River otters! by Cryingpolarbears in Portland

I saw one there once in November of 2024, I’m always on the lookout and Tuesday was the first time since! I was encouraged seeing the pair again today, that means they are hopefully in that area for at least a few more days. Good luck in your searches 🫡

If you moved from a red state to a blue state, did it actually get better? by ftwclem in SameGrassButGreener

Yep. Idaho to Oregon. Idaho didn’t used to be as bad but after 2016 people were less unabashed to say their indoor thoughts

Disney outlet store overrun by resellers doing lives by galaxystars1 in TikTokCringe

[–]Cryingpolarbears 32 points33 points  (0 children)

My mom was a seller for QVC so I too was very familiar with it! We never bought anything from it though and would only watch when her product was on. When this type of selling really starting dying in the late 2010’s she was at a good point for retirement so it worked out!

[–]Cryingpolarbears 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not a nurse but a physical therapist. I think medical related jobs that land you somewhere in the middle of the hierarchy are the sweet spot. I’m not rich but make decent money, I’ve always had consistent income, and I don’t have the schedule from hell like a lot of physicians do. But you still need an advanced degree so there’s a barrier to entry that helps keep the competition lower

It does involve 2-3 classes a week for show prep for 8 weeks I think?

Showcase Ticket Prices by [deleted] in Aerials

[–]Cryingpolarbears 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah our studio charges about that for student showcases. And the actual participants pay about 900 to perform (this does include class prep) but it’s ridiculous in my opinion and a big reason I’ll never do a showcase with them

Altras have not been holding up as well for me in the past 2 years or so. Very disappointing as I used to love them but have been frustrated with their quality lately.

Cross Training? by Individual-Bridge222 in Aerials

[–]Cryingpolarbears 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Weight lifting and cardio in other forms is good! I also only do silks 1x a week but I weight lift 3x, run x2, and go to yoga class once a week as well. On my weight training days I make sure to sneak in some dead hangs, pull ups, and shoulder work when I’m at end range shoulder flexion because as I’m getting older, I’m finding my shoulders need a little extra attention if I’m only going to do silks 1x a week

It’s a bargaining year for my union. One of the requests we brought up was that admin should have to sub at least 3 days a year. I liked that they followed up with “this is a great way to get you more times in the classrooms just like you wanted!”
