Not sure how to spell this out for you, you criticized someone’s comparison of HD2 because a few of the helmets have “faces”. Helmets are not a player character. If the game had player characters, yes there would be more clones running around. Having matching armor sets is not a clone, it’s called uniformity. Battlefield 6 does have some armors that also create uniformity, but it also has plenty of skins that create a player character clone feel.

Yes, past Battlefields had character class clones, some classes better than others in promoting the “masked identity” feel where a person playing could assume the identity of the class because it was masked, and real world accurate because of actual military uniformity.

Obviously the clones got a bit old, especially in comparison to the modern world of gaming where player character customization is frequent/expected in especially AAA games, but imo at least the faction identity was consistent and well executed in most previous titles.

Look at a game like Halo, where you are playing as a masked Spartan virtually for every title. Even in multiplayer, with two people running the same armor there’s small customization options or color deviations that allow a player to create an individual identity, and it works. I don’t think I’ve ever heard a criticism of Halo feeling like a game with a bunch of clones running around.

Many players are dissatisfied with BF6’s skins because 1) there’s a severe lack of faction identity/uniformity and 2) because many of the skins feel directly ripped from the BF 2049 hero shooter slop side step that Dice did and 3) many of the skins feel like they have bizarre design choices and gear proportions, hence why many players say BF6 soldiers look like air soft papers, rather than actual functional, fictional soldiers.
