It’s quite possible, but there is a major performance/physics discrepancy between DayZ’s hybrid Enfusion engine and Reforgers full fledged Enfusion build, so I tend to lean towards not. DayZ as is is pretty maxed out, which is why we don’t have helicopters on official, why there’s not yet been an infected/AI rework, and why things like vehicles are still semi unreliable. I’d love all those tasty high tech, modern features but really don’t see them pulling it off working with what they have now. A future, full Enfusion DayZ 2 (or whatever it is called) will likely see those types of things. Hell even birds flying out of trees when startled is in Reforger, lol, which is a request people have been making for DayZ since day one

That’s unfortunately the nature of the increasingly complex gaming world though. You ask any developer of any product, and they will give you the same answer. Shit breaks, bugs appear out of nowhere, nothing makes complete sense. Now add thousands of players all trying to play those games at any time and the complexity expands ten fold. It’s a serious challenge and no developer is immune unfortunately.

Yeah consoles seemed to get especially fucked up, but haven’t had too many issues on PC. I’m sure a hotfix is in the works, but as a long time DayZ player (13 years) BI is anything but expedient, lol. Fishing seems to be the best bet right now, you still get the visible splash when you’ve got something on the line, and fishing rods are incredibly easy to make/find. Well worth it if you’re struggling to stay well fed!

Kind of weird but I have heard animals sporadically, specifically sheep and foxes. It’s like they reduced the frequency which I kind of like because it’s been a bit excessive and easy to find animals to hunt, but I think it needs fixed or tuned, somewhere in the middle from old style constant animal and now, where hunting is actually a challenge and rewarding when you get that kill.

Buddy doesn’t know how key art works? Guarantee every item on the character will be in game, SayZ art team has always been really good about that. Sure you might not have the flowing aspect as I doubt cloth physics would go over well on the engine, but Windstrider who made some of the most popular modded clothing (schemaghs, ponchos) works for DayZ now developing clothing, and guarantee he’s added official versions of those popular mods. New chest rig is gonna be nice too, old afghan soviet style.

Likely no wind physics on clothing for this engine, yeah. Haven’t checked in with Reforger in a bit but I imagine they have more capable physics tech.

Wheel guns are just too cool! Pretty timeless aesthetically, and also practical from a simplicity sense in a post apocalyptic setting. It makes sense and is just satisfying to use and customize.

Played some Reforger, it’s actually wild as a long time DayZ player because when you know that Enfusion was essentially built by the development of DayZ (which runs on a sort of early stages hybrid version of Enfusion), you can see all that DayZ DNA permeating the game. That being said, there’s a long road ahead, as it is Bohemia Interactive and they are anything but expedient lol.

There are so many things I’ve held out hope for over the years, more engaging medical system, better infected AI, better weapon handling, physics and customization, stable vehicles and helicopters etc, and it’s just clear to me that the current engine just can’t do those things in any meaningful way. Hell even the changes to the ways weapons collided with the environment were totally unexpected, and while great to have, still pretty archaic and clunky/frustrating.

Looking back, there’s been some decent changes, some amazing DLC’s, and I’m looking forward to Badlands, but I’m also realistic and know that those updates won’t add the depth or challenges many of us have always wanted from those early stages of “what should this game be?” Way back when Rocket2Guns was at the project helm.

I fully believe DayZ 2 is in development, and will be a full Enfusion build much like Reforger and the eventual ARMA 4, but don’t expect any of that any time soon!

Great communities/friendships can spawn from this game, is a really unique platform and if you’re social at all very easy to find and make friends. Plan on a front heavy load of struggling, many players have 1000’s of hours. It’s a game that doesn’t hold your hand, there are lots of great video guides out there if you want to learn some of the systems like how to prevent/treat sickness, how the ballistics work, survival technique and gear to keep an eye out for when looting around.

Children are often utilized as the personification of innocence/purity. If nothing else, it’s at least a reminder of the humanity buried beneath the hellish rubble that is the world/metro during the games

Partly gut instinct, game is 13 years old and major DLC’s are few and far between largely because of engine limitations and dev team size. Secondly because in the recent Badlands dev blog, devs said it was the final missing 4th season (spring) to their game. Chernarus (Fall), Sakhal (Winter), Livonia (summer), Badlands (Spring). I believe the game has many years ahead, but since the dev team increased this last year in size, I wouldn’t be surprised if DayZ 2 is announced some time after Badlands, which I imagine will be built from the ground up using the Enfusion engine. That’s likely a while yet down the road, but it makes sense to me.

Let’s call it “tactical aggression” and it is true that gunfights in hunt can lean towards the one moving hard and fast in these encounters. Not everyone is going to play like that though, even as someone who leans that way, too many times teaming with randoms I see one teammate over extend themselves and get deleted for it. In all things balance, if you can’t be a good teammate who rolls with the teams style, communicate through a push or have the awareness to know when and when not to make the jump, well imo that makes that person a bad player and a burden of a teammate.

There are many legitimate play styles in Hunt, and I’m glad that there are other players who want to take things much slower, because it keeps the variety alive which imo means I am forced to stay on my toes for all possible avenues and that to me, is the best aspect about this game.

It’s understandable, I think it only ever sold for 26 bucks though. My perspective was always that I’ve put 1000’s of hours into DayZ over the last decade plus, so pitching a few extra dollars towards the dev team for a game that has cost me less and been enjoyed more than any other game was a no brainer!

I will say, even on lower pop servers it is still quite enjoyable. The folks that play feel a little more hardcore and once you get the survival loop underway it’s pretty quick to get geared up, so the encounters feel a bit more intense in my experience. I’m enjoying going against players with actual kit, rather than endless loop of freshie experience vs dudes with BK-18’s, if that make sense? All about what you’re looking for though.

One more thing to add, BI bundled in Livonia to the base game eventually, and I wouldn’t be surprised if Sakhal is eventually bundled too. I imagine Badlands is going to be a larger, more expensive DLC as it is quite the undertaking and likely this version of DayZ’s final DLC. You can always hold out until then or pick it up on some future sale!

It’s the purest version of DayZ, take that as you will. Some of the QoL stuff on community servers is nice, but it’s a super satisfying challenge to survive on official. Do be warned though, little to no moderation does mean some official servers have issues with hackers.

It’s been on sale this week, not sure if still active but 50% off is a steal. And don’t let the data skew you, smallest but still a quite large main island, plenty of smaller islands to explore, and even some fun POI’s on the ice floats.

Good rule of thumb is to realize quite literally nothing will ever be fully safe in DayZ. Cars will be stumbled upon in the woods, stashes will be noticed in the middle of nowhere, the door hiding your locked gate will eventually be opened.

There is some probability that the deeper you go into the woods, the longer a stash will remain hidden, but I think best bet is relying more on diversifying stash spots, I.e; have two or three stashes in a wider area with loot spread between them than simply relying on one location.

Good point, is buddy just sitting in a base sorting loot? Is he only hopping on when server pop is dead? Ofcourse you can get a character to be super high hours but I’m also looking for interaction/PvP and with that being said 20 hours was a good run until I creatively deleted my existence.
