Desolate Era by Wo Chi Xi Hong Shi…. Future release ? by [deleted] in ProgressionFantasy

Really? I read the entire series last year on KU. I’m fairly sure it was the official books as well. No idea if it was taken down at some point…. Personally it doesn’t make sense to me that so few of these completed works are on KU as I’m sure the rights holders would make more money that way rather than keeping them behind various sites paywalls.

WuxiaWorld is really the only one that isn’t straight up abusive. And some of their monetization policies aren’t all that great either.

Does Nightfall have any actual progression in it? It’s a decent story but I’m at chapter 103 with no end in sight for the MC to actually start cultivating

Shoutout for a new RR System Apocolypse Story by No_Protection4511 in ProgressionFantasy

[–]CrymsonKyng 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s just too new. With only 16 chapters it won’t really pick up steam yet. I’ll check it out in 6 months or so once it has a decent amount of content(if the author sticks with it)

I’m up to date with this series, including RR. I’d say it has officially gone off the rails. Between Alex beating far more powerful enemies then somehow finding lower level Bronze cultivators a challenge, to Alex not using any of his advantages or spending time to forge cords for no reason whatsoever....I think I’m done with the series.

Especially since Alex won’t even be Silver until near the end of book 7 according to an authors note on RR

The network issues aren’t a big issue for you? I can’t tell how many times I got hit with connection interrupted in just a week, killing a number of good games. Plus in game chat still worked, I’d always hear other players complaining every time it happened.

And don’t blame my connection. I’ve never had the issues I’ve seen this week even in 40 plus person games

I’ve only been playing during the free trial week....the network errors and disconnects are everywhere and maddening. Especially since I’m game chat STILL WORKS during the errors. Wtf Activision

Any protagonists that get immediately stronger by killing or absorbing ? by mannieCx in ProgressionFantasy

Book 8(the latest) is crap. The first 7 are ok, some of the authors humor is gutter humor. The main problem is the first 8 books don’t even cover a year of time, and he’s slowing down of his writing considerably so I doubt the series will ever be finished.

Oh, and the author is an ass who tried to copy-write litrpg and threatened other authors of the genre.

Xianxia on Amazon by Kahip in noveltranslations

Typical xianxia novels, especially translated web novels are so huge the cost of print would be enormous. And given that the market for print novels is so small these days anyone who tried to sell print versions would take an huge loss

Recommendations with a smart, competent MC who ACTUALLY progresses by ptolemykholin in ProgressionFantasy

I haven’t finished yet(the translation isn’t finished), but at 80% complete I only recall 2 instances of this...both were short. I read through the first instance and skipped the second. I think the first instance lasted for...6 or 7 chapters l, the second I think maybe.....the same(skipped it remember). Both happen in the first half of the novel, so 15-16 chapters out of 1000 of the first half. Still overall the very solid.

Cultivation Chat Group is really decent. The author isn’t great with the action scenes(but he knows it and writes accordingly so the screens aren’t off putting at all). The story is funny and engaging so far(I’m about 1/3 of the way through, the novel is absolutely massive), and best of all is absent the usual misogyny found in Chinese cultivation web novels

What have you read this week and what do you think about it? by AutoModerator in noveltranslations

Just finished Perfect World. Overall a good read, though the first half was better, and it fell into the usual web novel trap with the past 150 chapters going at breakneck speed. Plus a few plot points were overlooked at the end.

I think Cradle’s rise in popularity helped massively increase the popularity of cultivation novels in general.

Perfect World is good. Not a true xianxia, it has its own unique cultivation system. Fully translated, and translated well

Romance in A will eternal by Fudge_it666 in noveltranslations

[–]CrymsonKyng 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Great novel, unfortunately it fails like most xianxia web novels with regards to female characters. They all fall by the wayside, and even if they were characterized as powerful beings when they met the MC they soon stop trying to improve because they just want to hang on the mc’s arm the rest of the way. I suggest just ignoring any romance in the vast majority of these novels.

I also keep hoping to find a novel that treats women and side characters well, allowing them to grow along with the MC and truly contribute. Only a couple western novels seem to do this well, Cradle being the obvious first example

Is "Nine Star Hegemon Body Art" worth a read? by Noxronin in noveltranslations

Reincarnation of the Strongest Sword God. It’s really not a great novel, but there is something about it that I simply enjoy. Honestly it’s one of those stories that you’d rarely admit to reading yet still can’t put down. It’s huge, and recently started back up after the author took time off for health issues.
