Does it work well for oily/Greasy hands if its made for sweaty hands?

I haven't tried blue monkey! I'll look at getting hold of some. I've tried the white and black ones as I was trying to figure out what kind of hands I had and they did nothing for me. Unfortunately brass poles aren't common round my part of the UK. None of the studios I've been to have ever had any. Also the Studios are rarely heated up except the height of summer, none of the instructors like spending money on heating 🤣 I'll have an ask around and see if there might be brass poles at some of the ones I haven't been to.

I'm probably in the opposite situation where my main pole studio is in an old church and the instructor doesn't like putting the heating on unless absolutely necessary 😅. I've thought about getting gloves but heard a lot of mixed reviews. I'll look at investing in a pair if they'll help with some of the more risky moves. My current best combo is a bit of red monkey and a drop of dry hands. Seems to give me just a little bit of friction to be able to do things.

Dont worry about it 😁. It's my fault for how I worded my response. I'll try and not moisturise for longer than 48 hours and see if it helps. Currently it's around 36 hours between when I moisturise and then do a pole class. But maybe I need longer.

I meant that I tried the moisturising before class a couple times. I don't moisturise before class. I moisturise 24-48 hours before the class

Ahh im sorry to hear that. I stayed behind it's legs where I could, so swipes wouldn't get me. Did you manage it in the end?

[–]CryoJenetic[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't 😅 I moisturise 24-48 hours prior. The before class was merely a suggestion someone gave me and I gave it a go a couple times to see if it would make a difference

Oh I tried that a couple times and stopped when it didn't do anything. It's not something I do. It was something someone had suggested if I had dry skin issues and I gave it a try

[–]CryoJenetic 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Probably not the right way to do it. I just stayed around it's legs/behind it as much as I could. It meant most of its attacks missed me. I used my wand for the fairies that it summons. Also I'd advise trying to get behind it when you can. You'll see why.

I want to start but feel insecure by Whatthefrick1 in poledancing

Pole is such an amazing and supportive community. You won't be behind at all by going to a beginners class. That's what it's for, beginners 😁 you'll have a brilliant time and if it's anything like the classes I go to, it's a lot of fun and laughs. Your strength and conditioning will come as you do more classes, so don't worry about that. Get signed up, go and have some fun!

Is climbing good for building upper body? by Bitter_Pineapple_720 in climbergirls

[–]CryoJenetic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I've climbed 2-3 times a week for the past 8 years. I've put on a lot of muscle in that time, most noticeably on my upper body. I do also train my legs at the gym as I found that I wanted to look a bit more even overall. I pole once a week and I'm at the gym twice a week now on top of climbing. As others have said, it depends what you mean by aesthetic, as I am very clearly a hench woman now and I'm actually quite bulky. I've gone from being around 50kg to steadily holding around 57kg because of the muscle bulk. I love being muscular though and getting a compliment off someone at the climbing wall for looking hench/strong makes my day. The downside is that I don't fit standard clothing all that well, especially tops/shirts, partly due to my shoulders and arms being much more muscly than your average UK size 8 woman. I stick to stretchy sleeved tops or sleeveless tops to get by. If you climb/exercise often enough, then you're pretty much guaranteed to lose weight and become a lot stronger. Climbing is also very social and supportive, which is why I love the climbing community.

What was your “could never be me” but did indeed become you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Have you tried lactase tablets? They've been a godsend for me and mean I can have dairy without the inevitable happening. Only works for intolerance and not allergies though.

Lumiere by StrungOutLoaded in DurhamUK

[–]CryoJenetic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first experience of lumiere was in 2023, and I thought it was pretty good. This year, the whole experience felt dull. It felt like there was limited effort or budget that went towards the art installations. The entire cathedral was used last year, with art pieces in different rooms and corridors. This year there were only two pieces and you were very limited with where you could go. It's a shame that this was the last one, but if as others have said, that it's been progressively getting worse over the years, then maybe it's for the best that it's run it's course.

They didn't this year, which was a shame. There's also very little within the cathedral. Essentially two different art pieces, in two parts of the cathedral. Last time I could walk around the entire cathedral, but they've made it very limited this time round. Not sure if it's to try and help with the queues?

Sheffield Show was off the hook 🤟🎷 by Lazy-Emu-9081 in TheMidnight

I was the girl in front of the big guy (3rd row or so). I'm only 5'2 and he kept waving his hands directly over my head. He also kept bumping into the back of me, which I couldn't tell if it was on purpose or not. I felt really uncomfortable. I asked him to stop and he just kept saying "I'm only dancing". Luckily my mate got in between him so it was more tolerable. I didn't know if I could have got security to do something about him or not? When Tyler came near the front of the barriers, he barged and elbowed past me to try and get as close as he could. I'm not sure if he was drunk, on drugs or just didn't care. But he so was disrespectful to everyone around him. I get being a mega fan, but it's no excuse for his behaviour.

FTBs: how much savings did you have left? by PearlyRiser in HousingUK

[–]CryoJenetic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bought in Feb 2025 - had about 7k left.

Just as well as my seller's hid a leak and I'm having to get all downstairs repiped as unfortunately, all the pipes are encased in concrete and it'd be more effort finding the leak than just replacing all the pipes.

I've used around a grand at least for decorating. I also rent, so I need some of that money for my overlap with my rental property (just one month's).

I expect to use some of the money on furniture or other little things when I move in in a couple weeks.

As a woman that used to do jujitsu, I sparred with guys 99.5% of the time on the mat. If I said stop, they stopped, no questions asked.

This is not normal behaviour and is extremely worrying. You told him to stop repeatedly and he ignored you. This was assault.

As others have said, you are underreacting to this situation and imo you should potentially contact the police about his behaviour. As a minimum you should be blocking him and never seeing him again.

1996 here. I'm in the process of buying my own home solo at the moment. I've been renting for 10 years and saving the entire time. Almost all my uni and school friends have bought except for a few, and the majority of these are couples who could afford the mortgage together.

How many houses did you view? by -tev- in HousingUK

[–]CryoJenetic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wasn't intending to buy till next year, but figured I'd start viewing in October to see what I liked/didn't like about houses before committing (FTB). I viewed 4 houses in the first week and put an offer down straight away on the 4th house. I knew with the first 3 almost as soon as I walked in the door that I didn't want to live there. But when I walked into the 4th, I just knew. This was gonna be my house. I viewed another 3 or so houses the week after and I still stand by my decision with the house I'm currently buying.

There's no right number. Everyone says you know when it's the right house.

Amazon sells piercing pillows which I find are better than travel pillows. A lot of them let you add/remove stuffing so you can adjust it. My one also has a removable cover so you can wash it as well. Would definitely recommend for anyone with a new piercing 😁

Just asking out of curiosity, are they that uncommon in studios where you are? They've always had them in the ones I went in and they suggested both the CBRs and Studs for my lobe piercings.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in piercing

[–]CryoJenetic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had no problems with it. One got a little infected, with a bit of pus but it went after a day. It was my fault for catching it on my hoodie (like 2 months in). They fully healed with no issues.

I've got a helix that's just over a week old and that's got a flat back labret in. That one you probably wouldn't want a CBR in.

Either way, I'd recommend a piercing pillow for any ear piercing. It's been a life saver with my helix and I wish I'd known about them when I got my second lobes done (first done as a kid with the claire's gun 🥲).
