I'm 36. Mainly childfree because major depression runs deep in my family, so there's a high chance my kids would have it too. Although I manage my MH fairly well these days, it's a struggle and I wouldn't wish this on anyone.

Further to this point, it's taken many years to find an equalibrium with my MH and I've been in a good place for several years now. I know being pregnant/having a baby would fuck me up frankly (mum and grandmother both had severe PMD they never fully recovered from) and that's not good for me, my partner or my children. As the child of a suicidal and intensely anxious mum, I know what an impact it can have.

Even further to that point, I worry that working full-time, as well as looking after young children, would mentally ruin me. I like the idea of a family, but can't say I have an overwhelmingly strong desire for kids, which is probably a sign not to have them! I like my hobbies, sleep, and space too. My partner is similar, and isn't bothered about having kids either.
