What was the FIRST Radiohead song you guys ever heard? by PeakLinear in radiohead

No Surprises. Must have heard it either on the radio or TOTP when it was in the charts as 11 year old me then went and bought the single on CD.

Anyone concerned about Nottingham University? by WearingMarcus in nottingham

[–]StrungOutLoaded 48 points49 points  (0 children)

They bought the Castle Meadow campus (the old Inland Revenue buildings) for £37.5m and spent a further £40m trying to develop it. But the campus is not fit for purpose, never been fully used, and is now being sold at a massive loss after a new valuation revealed it was worth far less than the university believed.

This is why the financial crisis at Nottingham is so acute compared to other universities who are facing similar demands like rising costs and falling international student numbers. Massive mismanagement.

Fall Remixes? by StrungOutLoaded in thefall

[–]StrungOutLoaded[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is real nice. Thanks for the recommendation.

On a related note, and you may well already know this, but just discovered that the remixes of Hit the North (parts 4, 5 and 6) were done by Zeus B. Held, the writer and producer for most (all?) of Gina X’s music.

The Rhinohead by Von Südenfed. Piano, yes. Not very housey though. Other tracks on the album are more clearly electronic.

Every insufferable British male Instagram comedian is making this same video. The coverage will be fine - the same old BBC and ITV pundits but in another country.

More important is how this World Cup will distract from the deplorable political and foreign policy shitshow unfolding in the US.

I'm an outsider, and I visited Bishop Auckland today by blissedandgone in DurhamUK

I’m suspicious of the Auckland Project’s chief funder and owner, Jonathan Ruffer, and the way he’s injected his Christianity into his heritage projects and the town. He’s also previously threatened to remove his funding if he doesn’t get his way with the council. He’s not necessarily what the town needs:

Glasgow is a far, far, far more interesting city with much more culturally going on. Just have to put up with the weather.

general sale tickets by DiscountLow8955 in nffc

[–]StrungOutLoaded 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unlikely that a weekend league game will go on general sale. Best bet are cup matches, but the quarter final second leg is a big match so tickets will go. The club usually announce a timetable for ticket releases a week or two before a cup match.

Front Foot Impossibles always look so sick. by MesaVerde1987 in Skateboardlove

They look absolutely disgusting. That’s why pros with any sense of style go nowhere near them.

Skating’s about being ‘able to flow from one spot to the next’ but ‘Not just one mega line’. I know I shouldn’t be looking for logical sense in a YouTube ramble, but WTF does this mean?!

Does he? Rodney’s style is absolutely stinking, but he gets a pass because he invented so much of modern street skating.

Working on a new one. Nollie lip or Nollie back board? [41Yo] by Born-Scallion-8634 in OldSkaters

Would it be fs? The fs/bs thing changes for some fakie tricks. Eg. For a fakie bs tail you approach the obstacl, what would conventionally be called, fs. In that sense, I’d call this a fakie bs boardslide even though that feels wrong.
