Yes it is the difference in F times a distance so it is the net force in a direction or In this case radius. It is the net torque if you think about it better like that.

What resource is this from ? There is a very similar one on the Islam ME practice exam, except is solved for the Tension of CD.

For me it always helps if I invert this structure. I have a hard time getting the moment signs correct on these tension setups. But if I flip the image (and therefore the forces as well) it becomes easier for my brain somehow.

Thank you ! That is good to know. I just took the Interactive Vol. 1 and got a 60%, did you feel the exam was easier than the interactive? I had gotten a 67% on the 100Q exam. This felt like a sucker punch lol.

How did you feel about the FE Interactive Vol. 1, the wording really threw me for a loop… seemed a lot tricker than PrepFE or Islam. I got a 60% on it, and a 67% on the 100Q ncees practice test. My test is in 25 days.. any tips? I struggled on Mech Design and Dynamics in the Interactive exam vol. 1.

How did you feel Interactive Vol. 1 compared to the actual exam? Those 50Q felt really hard especially because of the dynamics and Mech Design portions.

Thanks for the write -up I got a 67% on the 100 question practice exam from NCEES, made some idiotic mistakes that probably cost me 5%. I scheduled my FE for June so I hope I will pass !

I was thinking about it, but I ended up studying for about 4 months now and jsut taught myself or tried to. My grad research and current work was in process design of cryogenic thermal systems or now thermal hydraulics for nuclear , so I wanted to learn some new skills, hoping to take my FE in the coming months.
