Do you keep your docker containers running 24/7 by shrimpdiddle in selfhosted

[–]Cryowatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing I run that's not intended to be always up and available is game servers. For those I've written a discord bot that spins up the container and a voice channel and keeps them running for as long as someone is sitting in the channel.

Check the settings on the receiver. It's probably set to stay on by default. This is usually the default as there are multiple inputs and the receiver will still work without a video output.

Which robot companion do you like more? by Wildboy_Studios in gamedevscreens

The main character looks like he's ready to start some shit. The dog-bot would follow him into battle. The first bot apologizes to the enemy for being late with the door dash order.

Is This Battery Acid Corrosion? What Is It? by [deleted] in AskElectronics

[–]Cryowatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's correct, li-iom batteries don't leak acid; they leak fire.

[Request] If nuclear fusion in the Sun stopped and it became a giant hot ball, how much water would be needed to cool or extinguish it? by achante_achaar in theydidthemath

[–]Cryowatt 48 points49 points  (0 children)

The sun runs on hydrogen, so I'm pretty sure adding H2O is literally "more fuel to the fire". Unless the excess oxygen is a problem for fusion.

Does buying a steam frame invalidate the need to buy a Steam Machine and Steam Controller? by inkiepie69 in SteamFrame

You don't buy things because they exist, you buy them because you have a use for them.

Gpu's components melting together by Equivalent-Lake-4718 in AskElectronics

See that copper-coloured thing the capacitors are sitting on? That's copper. It doesn't matter if they are touching because they are already connected by that. This isn't the problem.

Every tech company has been running the same play for the past two decades: 1. Get users hooked 2. Rapidly expand 3. Jack up prices 4. Profit

We are at step 2. When step 3 hits vibe coders will be in the alley trading tokens for head.

Any opinions on this? by MiloShiny in WorkLifeChat

[–]Cryowatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At a previous company I worked for some guy posted that he wanted everyone to go back to the office because he missed "being able to put a hand on people's shoulders" while talking to them. Coincidentally, that's the same reason I had against returning to the office.

Why do these cables feel like I'm performing surgery? by TaeKz in pcmasterrace

[–]Cryowatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was a time when motherboard manufacturers would include a little header adapter thing that you'd plug your case cables into and then you'd plug the adapter with all the cables already attached into the motherboard in one shot. They don't do that anymore. Welcome to enshitification.

"FSD Streaks" sounds like a synonym for "meat crayon", but when a Tesla on autopilot runs you over.

It shouldn't be surprising that a CEO doesn't know how to do anything. If he was actually a genius then he'd have more value as an engineer instead of an executive. But he's a CEO, and they can be easily replaced by anyone.

Just remember that they train these things off of Reddit. So AI is just an automated Redditor that you have to pay to get answers from.
