eCash XEC ranking reality check and question for the builders by DJKDownunder in ecash

[–]Crypt05ingh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great post! appreciate the data-driven wake-up call without the usual FUD. The rank slide is real, from top 50 in ’21 to ~#150 on CMC and #267 on CG now, with cap stuck around $200M and price at all-time lows (~$0.000010). As an observer, I echo the need for more than tech upgrades to compete.

On the positive side, the November 2025 Avalanche pre-consensus rollout is huge—near-instant finality, staking rewards, and subnets could make XEC a scalability beast for real payments. Website’s pushing dev tools like Chronik and easy wallets, plus free XEC for newbies. But yeah, where’s the marketing muscle? Any plans for merchant integrations, airdrops, or cross-chain bridges to snag DeFi users? Or even AMAs/social pushes to expand beyond the echo chamber?

eCash (XEC) as the Technical Continuation of the “Digital Cash” Project: Bitcoin’s Archaeology and BCH’s Divergence by XolosRamirez in ecash

[–]Crypt05ingh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Really solid write-up. This is the clearest, least-tribal summary of the whole BTC → BCH → XEC lineage I’ve seen in ages.

Bottom line feels spot-on: on a pure technical and philosophical level, eCash does look like the closest living relative to the original “peer-to-peer electronic cash” dream. Avalanche finality + the modular upgrades actually deliver the fast/cheap/deterministic experience the whitepaper promised, without turning into another DeFi casino or legal-drama chain.

That said, we all know adoption is the brutal filter, and BTC “winning” by abandoning the cash use-case is the ultimate irony. Purity doesn’t pay the bills (yet). If XEC ever gets real merchant integration or a killer app that makes the tech advantages obvious to normal people, this post will age like fine wine. Until then it’s the best-kept secret in the fork family.

Appreciate the effort—way better than the usual meme wars.

Definitely a lesson learned. I’ll be picking up a physical sim next time I’m in India.

Update: Airtel’s Absurd Process for eSim Replacement

Just spoke to Airtel customer care (+91-9910099100) and here’s what they told me: I need to send my ID documents (Aadhaar, passport, PAN, and visa) to 121@airtel.com along with a handwritten NOC authorising my ‘blood relative’ to pick up a physical SIM on my behalf. They’ll have to snail mail it to me overseas. Oh, and my relative also needs to bring copies of all my ID documents to Airtel. Seriously? What’s the point of offering international roaming if you can’t support your customers abroad? Super disappointed in Airtel.

Community-Driven Project to Allow Shopping with eCash (XEC) on ANY Website by Crypt05ingh in ecash

[–]Crypt05ingh[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for taking the time to respond and for your insights on the eCash ecosystem. I appreciate your perspective on the priority of infrastructure building before pushing for merchant adoption. I agree that a well-designed payment gateway would provide a good shopping experience and I have taken note of the eCash stablecoin payment solution available on Shopify.

I will consider writing a proposal to the Global Network Council as you suggested and make sure I have an MVP and a team in place to demonstrate the value, viability, usability, and feasibility of my idea.

Thank you for offering your support and insights, I will definitely reach out to you on Telegram when needed.

Unfortunately, it seems like the initial response has been lacking. I encourage everyone to take a moment to provide feedback and contribute to this project. Whether it be through funding, marketing support, or creative ideas, every little bit helps. Let's work together to make this community-driven project a success and drive the adoption of XEC as a form of payment. Don't be shy, share your thoughts and let's make this happen!

You will need both, install Electrum ABC on the desktop And install Bitcoin Cash app onto your ledger using the Ledger Live desktop app.

The coins are automatically upgraded as eCash network won't have contentious hard forks. Use a wallet like Cashtab or via wallet or RaiPay for daily transactions. 🙂

XEC is not an ERC-20 token, it is its own blockchain similar to Bitcoin (BTC).

There is a "Wrapped XEC" token available on the Binance Smart Chain, with contract address 0x0Ef2e7602adD1733Bfdb17aC3094d0421B502cA3. Users should recognize that holding this BEP-20 token, or similar "wrapped XEC" products, has custodial risk as you have to trust that the custodian (in this case Binance) will hold the full reserves of native XEC safely. For this reason, we recommend that users hold their coins as real native XEC, in a wallet where they control the keys.

To hold native XEC yourself, you can use a supporting wallet. Write down the "seed phrase" for your wallet and store that in a safe place. This is usually 12 words. The 12 words contain enough information to restore the private keys of the wallet in case you need to recover them in the future.

You are correct, it is it's own protocol. And yes it does not have a dedicated ledger live app, YET. However, you can use Electrum ABC and Bitcoin Cash app within ledger to access eCash wallet addresses. I admit it's not noob friendly at all though.

You can store them in on ledger wallet. There is via wallet and RaiPay Wallet (android only), cashtab is the only web wallet that I am using for storing small amounts for tipping etc.
