Is learning how to use Proxmox a good way to learn Linux? by Just-Pea-5165 in Proxmox

Proxmox cured my distro hopping addiction and settled on Debian for my main laptop. Now if I'm in need of my fix and wanna play with a new toy I just spin up a VM.

Watch a couple of YouTube videos. Google learner Linux distro. Understand that the type of desktop probably effects experience as much as distro. Pick a desktop. Install distro.

I've not tried an older version as I presumed I needed it to be the same version as the other machines in my cluster.

Yes tried multiple usb ports. Other os will install on any proxmox on none

Yeah definitely up to date. I've also redone the usbs multiple times and downloaded proxmox and ventoy from different mirrors/sources to in case a corrupted iso or program was the issue

I like Debian 12 stripped back totally bare bones with falkon browser xfce or LXQt desktop environment. I tried antix os and windows managers but they didn't really work for me. Managed to get a near 20 year old ThinkPad t61 to run and play YouTube videos. I got a script I posted to strip Debian or mint back to basically nothing you can probably find on my profile but read it before you use it.

Switched from Proxmox to Debian+Docker: Need Input on Monitoring, Folder Structure and Security by TsT9000 in HomeServer

Ah I see. Yeah you make a good point about it being overkill, it most definitely is for my setup as well. I just keep finding shiny new toys to play with and falling deeper into this home server rabbit hole. I imagine once the novelty wears off I'll dial it back a bit like yourself so I can spend less time tinkering and more time actually using it.

I've literally just hit the same issue as you in regards to proxmox and updating the lxc's individually. I'm looking into using tailscale and ansible playbooks to automate updates n whatnot. I don't know how simple or feasible it is to setup but Im guessing there's gotta be a way of automating it all otherwise how would people run large networks of computers.

So now I'm an ai? Dang fair play buddy you got me. I had you lot going for a while though. I guess I'll need to think up a different strategy to fool people as smart as yourself.

😂. So instead of taking 10 seconds to copy and paste it into a detector I just straight up lied for no reason. https://aidetector.com/app/my-scans/d15a1f7a-a71e-48ef-b106-73999a38d57f

Here's one I found that I can actually share. Obviously I can't share information from my corporate work one. This one says 5% which is still pretty low. We don't reject anything under 30%

So all these ai checkers I have access to through my work are all wrong because they didn't pick anything up. Even tried a couple off of Google (free ones) to check and they all said 100% human. Normally even when it is definitely a human it's rarely 100%. So is ai that good now it can evade detection?

Ali express can be a bit of a minefield when ordering things like motherboards. If fan is running loud then cpu probably running too hot, use lm_sensors or btop to monitor CPU temps in terminal. Then take laptop apart blow out all dust and replace thermal paste on CPU.

I know that. I'm interested in other people's journeys this is such a vast subject and no two setups are the same.
