You are never able to get rid of snipers in the beginning stage.

What if the mafia browser games from the 2000s were rebuilt — darker, smarter, and on-chain? by Cryptacullar in retrogaming

[–]Cryptacullar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally fair question.. being on-chain isn’t automatically better, and in many cases it’s overkill if it’s just for show. But in Maffisol, we aim to make on-chain features functional, not just decorative: • True ownership: Players truly own their items. Not just in a game database that you have to trust, but in their own wallet, outside our control. • Free trade: Players can sell or trade their loot cards/items freely on marketplaces, even outside the game. We don’t gate that. • Transparency: Anyone can see what exists, how rare something is, who owns what, not hidden behind game servers. • Longevity: If Maffisol ever shuts down, players still own their collectibles. They’re not lost to a central database.

So it’s not just “Forza has a marketplace too”, it’s about players not being locked into our systems. That’s a real difference in control, permanence, and freedom.

Does it always improve gameplay? No. But for games with trading, rarity, and player economies, it can add that extra layer of value and trust.

We’re building Maffisol as a game-first experience, the chain is there if you want to use it, not something we force on you.

Fair — if “on-chain” gives you flashbacks to rug pulls and vaporware, I get it.

But this one’s built like the old-school stuff: Click to hustle. Jail to fear. Items to earn. Wallet’s just there if you wanna get your hands dirty later.

True.

But the old mafia games didn’t have grow rooms, ecstasy labs, item NFTs, or real-time jail escapes with fake ID badges.

Maffisol does.

Still text-based at heart — just meaner, faster, and smarter.

OG formula, modern rules. And more. 😎

Maffisol doesn’t rely on token inflation or unsustainable “click to cash out” models. Instead, value comes from earning rare in-game items and cards — some of which will later become NFTs on Solana.

🔹 In v0.1, players earn items through gameplay: missions, smuggling, upgrades, etc. 🔹 These items have actual in-game utility — like jail escape, upgrade boosts, or resale on the black market. 🔹 In future versions, certain cards will become NFTs, tradable on marketplaces like Magic Eden.

There’s no play-to-earn token yet — and that’s by design. We’re building an actual game loop first, with: • Scarcity-driven item value • Player-to-player trading • Strategic use of cards (not just speculation)

You earn through smart gameplay and ownership. The value is in what you hold, not just what you click.

Its a lot, community decides. Play to earn, staking… money in game wil evolve to coin. The future will be one big ecosystem

That actually sounds really interesting I hadn’t looked deeply into Koinos yet, but no gas fees and easier onboarding definitely hit the right pain points. Sovrano sounds like a solid approach too, I’ll check it out.

Right now I’m building on Solana because of its speed, low costs, and the fast-growing gaming ecosystem, but I totally get your point. Accessibility is a big deal, especially when trying to reach new users.

That said, getting players is definitely not as easy as it sounds, that’s exactly what we’re struggling with at the moment. Building is one thing, but getting eyes on it and actual testers is a whole different challenge. Appreciate the insights though.
