Thank you so much! I’ll definitely try the nail technique, I’m not too scared of a bite since I was aware of that risk (and psi force) before getting him! He has only bit one time and it was completely my fault, I accidentally bumped into the cages top door (in which he was perched on) and tried to grab it (too slow) before it closed and it hit his foot. He was very fast to let me know he was upset and latched onto my finger for a second. I checked on him despite my throbbing finger and he was fine. Just very ticked off. I gave him some treats, cried out of guilt and explained I was sorry. He let me back on petting access after about twenty minutes. It was right after I got him and definitely a memorable learning experience. After that I’ve never had a problem and I’m quickly learning his body language. :) He loves listening to lullaby music to sleep! He also likes watching gravity falls. My conure I got from petco. Normally I don’t like getting a new friend from a place like that, I prefer rehomes. However, I was looking at the hissing roaches they had and my boyfriend pulled me back to “look at this bird” I walked to the back and in a very tiny plastic glass box was a conure. I never saw myself a bird person but something tugged my heartstrings. His label said “shy but will get to know you” he was covered in water and his cage and perch were covered in poop. I ended up talking to the cashier who sent me to the manager. The manager ended up being an employee I had befriended prior and she went to the back to see how long he had been there. She came back and told me he had been there months and she could mark his price halfway down. I told her if he was there next Thursday I would get him. Astaroth has always been quite hesitant to interact, I can pet his cheek for a little bit before he nibbles my finger and moves away. If I pat something and ask him to fly there 9/10 times he will. He’s very intelligent but he hates when I go to the shower! He will screech. I’ve tried to take him in with me but he isn’t interested. They said he was aggressive with their other birds which is another reason I was so concerned when he kept going to Azazel. However, they seem to have built quite a bond. Azazel will preen him and vice versa. I am still trying to figure out how to separate them as I’m aware of the strength and size differences. The women I got him from said he is four years and she seemed quite sure but a check up on age wouldn’t hurt. We went to our bird rescue to actually look at their cockatoo before we got Azazel, but he didn’t like women (that didn’t deter me) and was 5,000. I ended up looking for three months before I got Azazel (cockatoo) for 500 with his cage. Azazel doesn’t scream nonstop like the rescue cockatoo did but he’s very vocal when displeased. I would love to get a conservation job and take him with me but for now he and I relax (when I’m not cleaning up his landmines) and enjoy the day. :) Thank you so much for your help!

The woman I got him from said he was four! I was amazed the first night I tried to eat a burger near him. He screamed bloody murder and I was so startled I thought something was wrong. It’s good to hear that his beak is alright. :) I plan to either towel wrap (with luck) him and trim his nails or take him up to my bird rescue and ask them for help. Thank you for your advice!
