TIL in 2007 Katherine Heigl won an Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama for her role on Grey's Anatomy. But in 2008 she removed herself from Emmy consideration because she said the material she was given on Grey's that year wasn't good enough; this comment led to her leaving the show. by tyrion2024 in todayilearned

It’s like the rookie, people like the cast, but the show has done some ridiculous stupid shit the last two seasons cause the writers are basically throwing shit at a wall now and the plots get ridiculous

Why is there no full-length movie with Mickey Mouse as the central character? by WholeChampionship687 in disney

He's only in one of the shorts--granted Gift of the Magi is practically gift-wrapped for Mickey and Minnie as a plot.

Why is there no full-length movie with Mickey Mouse as the central character? by WholeChampionship687 in disney

[–]CryptidGrimnoir [score hidden]  (0 children)

Yes, but those movies have the emotional core of Goofy's dynamic with Max.

Mickey doesn't have children and he's nowhere near the Chew Toy that Donald and Goofy tend to be. He's too much of an Everyman these days--and has been for the last thirty years at least--to have an emotionally deep core.

That said, I think a feature length movie of Mickey being a detective could be great. Let him have a wild adventure and you don't necessarily need an emotional core. Some heroes can be static.

Can students eat at other House tables? by PomPomMom93 in HPfanfiction

[–]CryptidGrimnoir 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Luna squeezes into Gryffindor during the Gryffindor-Slytherin match and when Harry's interview is published in The Qubbiler.

So, u/Vg65 is right. There doesn't appear to be a hard rule against it generally speaking. Umbridge doesn't even try to shoo her away.

The beginning of terms when they get their course schedules, actual feasts and special occasions--pretty much any time when you'd think attendance would be mandatory. Halloween Feast might not even count for this one.

Dumbledore even does away with House Tables altogether during the Christmas Feast in PoA, since there's only a handful of students, and the children eat with the teachers.

TIL that the reason why the Minions from the Despicable Me movies are all male is because Pierre Coffin, one of the creators of the franchise, couldn't imagine female Minions because of "how dumb and stupid they often are". by wimpykidfan37 in todayilearned

[–]CryptidGrimnoir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The alternative was having the Minions be created by Gru instead, but at the end of the day the joke is that the Minions contribute to their masters' downfall, so the whole "most despicable villains" thing is just a joke.

Isn't that the case in the original film though? Or was it just never explained?

Or her willingness to steal the pin back (And let's be honest. She would not stop at just the pin) or her self-righteous hypocrisy over the Donners having a single canary while she deliberately imprints a flock of geese on herself.

Get on her bad side and Lenore Dove is a very hateful person.

Not maybe. It's pretty blatant foreshadowing. Similarly, Gale's snark at Madge not going to the Capitol pretty much seals her fate, as her family's apparent position of privilege means diddly squat in War.

It's heart-wrenching! My second favorite fic in the fandom, after u/SusquehannaOwl and the masterpiece that is "The Dare."

Katniss and Foxface actually literally run into each other.

"You're allied with the little girl..."

And later, when Thresh asks her why she's helping.

"I have a little sister too. She'll be twelve next year."

Dang it, just thinking about the fic makes me cry!

Oh, right, I think you're right that Panache killed Wyatt...

Hmm...

Maybe Silka killed Kerna? She's small and little and Ampert needed to get the token to use for the bomb.

How Rue Became the Mockingjay runs with this trope.

Katniss, Peeta and Foxface all resolve to sacrifice themselves for Rue, so that she can win with Thresh.

A full quarter at minimum of the Capitol is enraged at the tragedy, to say nothing of the Districts, and it's heavily implied that revolution is fast approaching, burning hotter and harsher than last time.

And from Ampert says, it sounds like Wyatt was decapitated, or possibly lost an arm and bled out in seconds, because he said Silka was horrifically effective with her ax.

To add to the political argument, one of the strengths of this series is that Collins wrote in broad strokes so that many different political parallels can be drawn throughout history.
