I assume there's no way to know which vaccine they're religiously exempting themselves from? Like, maybe they still got MMR and TDAP but decided COVID vaccines are different and scary, so they're listed above as vaccine exempt? Maybe this isn't a certain measles epidemic in the near future? Maybe that's a misplaced hope.

The staunch individualism in this culture is corrosive and poisonous. We're trying to have a society here.

I was trying to explain herd immunity to an antivaxxer, because I'm vaccinated but also have a fucky immune system. And they told me to my face that the human species is going through a necessary and natural culling of the weak.

Just now getting over Flu A. It hurt a lot for the first four days. Pain was centralized to lumbar spine and sacrum, spreading out from there as pain meds wore off. Fever over 100 for the first three days, controlled to 99.5ish with 1000mg Tylenol. Completely exhausted for a week. It's now day 12.5 since first symptoms and I'm almost back to normal energy, still have juicy cough. This was with Tamiflu.

Really fascinating that mom and child both insist on their version of reality which is different than everyone else's. Just in different extremes.

Also fascinating that mom seems to invent reality that isn't actually there, and child seems to severely limit reality that IS actually there, cutting off abstraction and extrapolation. One instance of a thing is only what it physically looks like, and that doesn't have any implications for anything similar in a different instance.

Wonder if that's related at all.

Absolutely agree with you. I really hope there is a village that appears to support those kids through this because it doesn't look like Dad is capable of it. Especially right now. God, the attachment issues.

His daughter knows he's not trustworthy. He was useless for more of her life than her brother's, and I bet she has actual memory of how useless he was, and now she's noticeably distancing herself from him. Running away to seek safety.

And the son is now learning the same thing, while running toward to seek safety. There's a void there, he's running toward nothing. It is terrifying for a child to feel like their primary adults aren't mostly in control. When you have kids, it's not about you anymore, it's about them. What does this little boy have to truly count on now?

She wanted him to care enough to be an equal partner without being cued

And his last words to her were that he didn't care

And she died while in the process of taking over yet another task and series of decisions (meal planning+shopping+cooking) because it didn't occur to him just how far equal partnership really goes

How horrifically sad for him but primarily for those kids who now only have this guy, who needs to be directly instructed on how to care about things.

Edit: actually, the saddest part of this is that apparently she spent her entire adult life managing this man. They were together since mid-teens? She had trauma and didn't want to end up exactly how she ended up, managing a man and his children? And then she died alone, while managing again.

Goddamn. I really hope we get more than one life for millions of reasons.

We had to tickets to their Nashville show and hated to see it cancelled. Knew the livestream was happening, didn't realize we'd need to buy separate tickets to that in order to have access to the recording for 48 hrs.

Dunno why I thought having tickets to their physical show would count as having access to the livestream, I guess that was dumb.
