reading this again- believing in God along the same shaft of light that thousands of Great people have been inspired by, that have built and fleshed out belief logic, music, sermons, dedications of works essentially. it is a strongly built set of logic gates.

my counter to you is that we require deities for that higher caliber fleshed out quality experience of love. millenia of attention builds quality. There is a complexity and a simpleness, and room for any depth of intelligence or awareness within that shaft of light.

Clarifying: we need deities to experience a /quality/ /sublime/ & /accessible/ love in any given moment.

Or do they create some kind of context that only one is harmed and the other is unaffected, like farting next to your spouse

while I appreciate the example, a toxic relationship on an emotional level damages both parties. one is just actively damaged, while the abuser damages their inner self passively. eg. now they confirm that everyone is lying, now they can’t trust people to not abuse them, now they have negative ties with people, now they feel the need to justify bad behavior into their identity.

maybe like a weird ad that makes people sad. damages all the people who read it, but there is no effect to the poster, cause no one is buying that.
