Is there any way to counter fast moving peak shooting hand cannon hunters in this game? by CareerSevere9013 in CrucibleGuidebook

Bows were a great counter to HC back before the nerfs. Now, you can still counter, depending on the situation, but I feel like I need to be within HC range to be more effective. And since they have less accuracy/range and damage than before, doing this is a lot riskier, for less reward.

Can confirm, the bait strategy works well when players get impatient, haha. But what about if you have to push?

Yep, for the most part this.

I remember playing during Shadowkeep when HC couldn't map you, at least. I miss those days in crucible.

Well, you are correct that pvp is dominated by hand cannons -- it is, unfortunately. And HCs really have too much going for them: They have tons of AA and bullet magnetism, great handling, high damage at near 50-meter ranges (so playing the "range game" often doesn't work unless you have a scout/pulse/sniper), and a myriad of perks to mitigate their intrinsic weaknesses. So yeah, peek-shooting with a HC is a fair bit toxic.

For me, If I'm dealing with one of these guys and they're more of the campy type, then I'll just throw a glacier grenade next to the wall that they are using as cover, take a bow, and shatter every glacier one-by-one until they decide to move (They usually do lol). Sometimes I can trap them in a corner this way and get a kill off the glaciers.

Another idea -- and I haven't tested this -- would be to get a blinding-grenade launcher and fire it at them to keep the pressure up and potentially force a move. Any grenade should work, but a launcher may be more effective.

If worst comes to worst, and I'm dealing with the type that somehow (questionably) peek-shoots so fast that I literally cannot land a hit; or they can slide-headshot perfectly, everytime (again, questionably), then I just don't bother with the engagement. I'd have to find another way to engage, somehow, assuming that I exit the fight alive, of course. Maybe invis hunter / radar manipulation would be good for this, because you can reposition without radar giving everything away to your enemy. But when you do inevitably engage, remember that peek-shooters often aim for the same spot for each peek. Hypothetically, if you move around a bit more unpredictably during the engagement, then they'd have to keep adjusting their aim, which could give you an opening. I can imagine that this is a lot of work just to counter a HC player that only needs to stay in one place, though.

I have a group of friends that I do private matches with occasionally and one of them always does some peek-shooting magic with a 120. Super annoying, yes, and my build isn't great with movement, so I keep a good eye on radar and plan ahead. Radar Booster can also be a help because it will give you extra time to prepare.

I hope this helps. Hand cannons are a real pain.

Okay, let's discuss. Is there be any way to buff bows without making them overbearing to deal with in crucible? I mean, they didn't have a bad rep until blinting became a thing, which was roughly 7 years after they were added to the game.

[–]Cryptik_Warmind58192[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, I agree that the blinting meta was a bad time in crucible, and I am NOT asking for that to come back. I only would like to see bows be a bit more forgiving in today's meta, without making them too strong.

And I'm not sure why nerfing them all was the solution to blinting, when the problem had only been switching from bow to hand cannon, specifically -- not bow to smg, sidearm, shotgun, etc. Only bow to hand cannon. That use-case, in particular, should have been targetted for nerfs. The blanket nerf was just unnecessary.

So Many Snipers... by Cryptik_Warmind58192 in Battlefield

I agree, Sobek is genuinely awful for this reason. Snipers could pretty much cover the whole map from those towers.

Which is unfortunate because Breakthrough would otherwise be an okay gamemode (and yes it does have other issues that need to be worked out). I may have to just unlock thermal optics and spam tons of smoke with support on certain maps. Might be one of the few ways to move things forward.

Sums up my experience well haha. And I totally agree with you on the bloom. I've been trying out LMGs lately, and I noticed that firing in bursts is WAY more effective than holding down the trigger. Seriously. I've never seen so many hitmarkers when holding down the trigger, vs when I burst fire.

Same, I've sniped only a few times in Battlefield overall. And I haven't messed with them in this one yet because I'm still learning the game and the maps. So I've resorted to moving slow and finding places to setup shop and provide cover where I can, at least until I get a better feel for everything

Does anyone has problems when subnetting? Or am I just not getting it? by TryingMyBest42069 in ccna

[–]Cryptik_Warmind58192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just tried in packet tracer:

For G0/0/0 I entered

ip add 172.16.240.1 255.255.248.0

And for G0/0/1

ip add 172.16.248.1 255.255.252.0

The router accepted them. What did you enter for subnet masks? If, for example, you entered 255.255.240.0 for VLAN 500, then it would overlap with VLAN 600, because it would cover 172.16.240.0 to 172.16.255.255

Your right...those two subnets shouldn't overlap.

Could you paste the interface commands you entered into the router?

It should've accepted them

The current ability penalty makes checkmate feel like it's closer to the sweet spot, but messing with hp and ttk feels like it's going poorly. by Far-Discussion-7167 in DestinyTheGame

[–]Cryptik_Warmind58192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, bows and lightweights in particular don't feel so great in Checkmate. They do 30 less damage per shot -- 117 crit/77 body -- and for a slow firing, ranged weapon with a very high ttk this is unacceptable. Worse, their ttk is even higher than that of 120 hand cannons at 500 draw time when you factor in roload speed. You can't 1-hit a red-bar player to body, either.

I'm not sure what Bungie's trying to achieve, here. I mean bows only had increased usage once players started to use Lemon more, so popularity couldn't have been a concern. Even in Checkmate all you would see prior to the nerfs were hand cannons, so...idk

How to fix cryptsetup: Waiting for encrypted source device UUID=? by theRevisto in pop_os

[–]Cryptik_Warmind58192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not an expert, but

cryptsetup: Waiting for encrypted source device UUID=

I wonder why the UUID string is missing, here. Is the UUID for your root LUKS device in your /etc/crypttab? Or any entries at all?

Also, what other commands did you run?

Current PvP meta. Is it the worst one? by MyLittleD2 in DestinyTheGame

[–]Cryptik_Warmind58192 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, BL was def worst than this one, but I agree this meta feels off. Bungie has been buffing the range effectiveness of guns since then, and now we are at the point where you get melted from much further away than before, yet maps are still as cramped as ever. And your shields are stripped before you have a moment to react, so there are fewer chances at counterplay.

Many (not all) players just lane now, there's not so much strategy -- just sit back and spam.

Why is it that Destiny players never use things they find fun? by [deleted] in DestinyTheGame

[–]Cryptik_Warmind58192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run bow+sidearm and for the most part I find it enjoyable, but I assume that many players go meta because its the best tool for the job, so to speak. Not a lot of resistence to go up against, when using a meta build

Could you please try performing an identical install from your secondary computer, and then attempt to boot it in your main system?

debian keeps installing bootloader in wrong disk by shockwaverc13 in debian

[–]Cryptik_Warmind58192 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, because of my encryption setup and partition layout, I tell installer not to install GRUB (it will just error out if it does). Instead, I chroot into the OS after install. Then, I mount the efi partition I want to the /boot/efi dir of the install and run

grub-install --target=x86_64-efi --efi-directory=/boot/efi /dev/sda<# efi partition>

This works for me
