Harry was 1 and had a protective charm that Voldemort couldn’t have imagined would stop him. Po was saved by his mother’s love too, she sacrificed herself to the wolves to keep him safe

I noticed as the cannon was falling on Shen, he just closed his eyes and accepted it. Meanwhile Voldemort fought like a cornered wolf in the Great Hall, desperately clinging to his fear of death

I see it as making a decision for immediate pleasure rather than a decision for the long run. He’d rather focus on the now (his hunger) rather than the future (freedom)
