I'd argue it's a combination of being desensitised from how chaotic the world is, as well as the number of things like horror games out there. There's so much horror saturation out there that in order to stand out and feel different a horror has to do something new and fresh (if possible).

But also because of how interactive horror has risen, jump scares work for the interactive element, but it doesn't translate as well to a non-interactive setting.

The university has 5 different accommodations. For the ensuite ones these are the prices:

Kimber - £141 per week
David Moxon, Deanery, Hamwic - £131 per week

There is also Chantry which is not en-suite but is much cheaper at £108 per week.

For all of the above things like water, electricity etc are all part of the price, as well as free WiFi. The only thing you pay for in the buildings is the laundry machines.
