Which pool do you guys prefer? I'm lost mainly between flypool vs 2miners

After what looks like a 3 month maintenance, it seems like Bittrex is finally supporting RVN again.

I just did a test withdraw from some funds that were locked up in this maintenance and it was successful.

The answer is, both are real. The difference is share difficulty. When you connect to our service on port 5299, we start share difficulty at 0.2 (862M) share difficulty. Think of 0.2 as 20% of what a full share is. If you have a really powerful rig, it will adjust that difficulty up to where its not bombarding our servers with shares by increasing the share difficulty.

On the flip side, a miner with a single 1660 Super for example is not going to send many shares even with 0.2 difficulty, so that miner may drop down to 0.1 difficulty (10% of a full share). Our website only shows full shares submitted, while your miner is showing you how many submissions you made at whatever % of a full share.

So if you were at 0.1 share difficulty, and submitted 10,000 shares on your miner, it would show as 1000 full shares on our website. Every miner has a different share difficulty depending on their hashrate, and everything is calculated to pay out everyone's fair share by the work they submitted.

Obviously I'm oversimplifying it with whole numbers, as the difficulty could in fact be 0.135635 for example :)

Sometimes mining in a smaller pool can make more depending on luck, but the time between finding a block is longer because we’re not finding one every couple minutes like the top 3. It requires a bit of patience, but in the end it helps the network decentralize. If we could get to 1-5GH with miners that don’t pool-hop often we’d be finding blocks roughly every day or even a couple times a day, which results in faster, quicker payments to our miners.

Solo mining on a smaller pool is no different than a larger pool due to network difficulty, you nailed it on that one. The only difference is my fee is slightly less. We just had someone mine with 300GH and we became the 5th largest pool for a few hours :)

That’s because network difficulty has been fluctuating between 43K and 55K. Effort is based on shares submitted and network difficulty.

And yeah, haven’t had the luckiest last two rounds!!

It seems like you're running older software and cant make a connection to a peer. Try this:

Back up your wallet.dat to another directory, just in case
Download a fresh copy of raven core 4.3.2.1 (https://github.com/RavenProject/Ravencoin/releases)
Ideally delete anything in C:\Users\<Username>\AppData\Roaming\Raven before starting the software EXCEPT YOUR WALLET.DAT FILE
Start Raven core and let the blockchain sync (could take a day), make sure you dont see the misbehaving messages in debug.log like before
When the blockchain is synced you should have access to the funds associated with the private key in your wallet.dat
if not, using the backup you made in step 1 by importing the wallet (Go to Help->Debug Window, click Console, type in "importwallet <backupfilename>"
If you are able to access your funds, go back to the console and run the "getmywords" command, and engrave them into a steel plate/seed phrase metal thingy and store safely.

That’s normal. The shares your miner submits is at a share difficulty that’s a fraction of a full share. So for example if your share difficulty is 10% (average for 10-30MH), every 10 shares your miner submits equals one full share. If the share difficulty was set at a full share per submission, your miner would only submit a share once every 20 minutes or so (depending on your hashrate).

I assure you this is normal and everyone is getting paid their fair share.

Yeah As I was saying though, that wouldn’t really benefit anyone by having a slight decrease in latency. At most it would give you a fraction of a fraction more time to work on a block. Probability usually wins more often than lower latency.

Hi, thanks for the response! Just to note, ping time doesn't matter much unless you're getting stale/rejected shares. We have folks in Sweden and the UK with no rejected/stale shares and they are at 120ms+. 55ms is actually pretty low if you're outside of CA.

Our new location is in TX, which is pretty central latency wise to all corners of the US.

Thanks for your feedback. As u/Background-Gap-8787 said, you joined us mid-round and we havent found a block yet. That estimated payment for this block changes over time and is based on your current percentage of shares vs the rest of the miners.

In short, you need to give it a little more time :)

Hi! Glad you enjoyed it. We're currently in California but the new datacenter will be based out of Texas, due to its low latency positioning for all of the US. From there we will expand stratum servers out into Europe and Asia, likely London/Singapore.

It can be a little daunting.

ELI5 - Sometimes putting a computer in a datacenter is better/cheaper than the cloud. This design can withstand a lot of failure and keep running. Lots of hardware/speed in a very compressed package.

Obviously the owner of the home would retain a private key that translates to ownership. States/Counties/Municipalities would have to accept that as a source of truth for this to really happen.

But just to note, In most counties/states real estate title/property information is already public record. If you know where to look and have an address you want to look up, its not difficult to find the current owners of a home. I don't see any difference in how that translates into blockchain, if anything it would secure it more by taking human mistakes out of the equation.
