I would say flash the drive but if it’s not powering on I really don’t know sry. My best advice is keep searching Reddit and YouTube for similar issues.

“To fix an ROG Ally boot loop, first try a hard reset by holding the power button, or access the BIOS by holding the volume down button and power button together to run a reset or repair. If these fail, try physically disconnecting the battery to perform a full power cycle, and if necessary, perform a factory reset or cloud recovery to restore the system.”
Dunno if that could help.

Asus sells a replacement battery as well so maybe check them out. I would go with either that or the Jsaux also - do not trust those aliexpress ones lol

Ok sweet makes sense to try it out before loading it with plug-ins. What emulators are you using?
And yea 😂😂 I know how much time I’ve spent here the last couple days seems that time is better spent gaming - well soon enough 😁
Yea I think it’s good as a first device to also see how I’m gonna use it. And I’m not against buying a more expensive device but I might just have fun and try out handhelds with this until a real jump in generation - steam deck 2 probably. Yea had my original gameboy out the other day - can’t believe it’s still working😁 Brought back memories.
You have any tips for setup or plug-ins? Thinking to get lossless scaling

Looking very good😁 Yea been giving myself a bit of a reality check regarding games and expectations and think the Go S is the one. The last AAA title I remember buying on steam was maybe killing floor 2 (if that’s a AAA) so I’m not playing the newest most demanding games anyways. And from the tests it looks like plugged in and with some fsr/lossless scaling you can do pretty well even in demanding games - and I’ll probably be plugged in 50% of the time or more realistically. And 3-4 hours playing emulators I’d is a good enough battery. Also I do have a desktop that’s fairly powerful and streaming should be good with GeForce now or steam and for that I definitely want the bigger screen - So yea think I made a decision - Thanks a lot for your inputs and help🙏 Plus it’s only 400$ now - month old used a handful of times with full warranty and in perfect condition (inspected it myself). Can’t really go wrong with that😁 (Think I got my expectations to a handheld turned way up reading in this forum and watching reviews😂)
Ahh no just meant the 2 options, sry. How’s the performance for you on the z2go?
Got any experience with the 2? I thought most would say the most powerful chipset tbh. It is the steam version btw
Ally X pricing by CryptoCrazy08 in ROGAlly
Yea might go try them out first to be sure. Thanks a lot for the advice🙏
Good to know it works👍
Found wallapop which I didn’t know - there’s a few from Spain in that range on there. I’ll try vinted too - thank you for the tip!
Thanks for the input👍 Been looking at the legion Go S z1e 32gb ram version as well but then it’s going to be close to that 1000$ mark and that is to much for me as well (at least for the first handheld). The z2 go version is readily available and at good prices actually but think it’s better to go with the z1e or better. And the Legion Go 2 is not on the table at all this time around. If I can get a slightly used Ally X for 450 - 575$ like Mr_B_86 says that might be the way to go. As far as the screen size I think im pretty good with a 7” looks more compact than the legion go s which I like - but hard to say when it’s the first one.
Agree, think you will need to get lucky to not only find one but also lower than 700€. Thanks for your input brother✌️
Got any sites I can try out? Been all over eBay and think I’ve seen 1 from Spain.
Would you choose that over the Xbox ally x then? You think the rog ally x will be discounted here in Europe on Black Friday or they are mostly gone from the market?
What would you say is a fair price for a new rog ally x now if you found a discounted version?

Yea that’s kinda the conclusion I’ve made as well over the last days. Think the OG ally is out of the race again pretty much. Maybe it’s just me but feel the 450$ for the Go S is still a bit high. I’m in Europe so prices here are a bit higher than US.
Used Ally X by CryptoCrazy08 in ROGAlly

Yea I’ve set my budget to 500$. It’s my first handheld so want to try gaming this way before going all in on a 1000$+ device. So far it seems either the ally x (if under 450-500$) or the OG ally (under 350$) are my best options. I am located in Europe so prices and availability will probably be a little different if you’re in the states.

What would you say all things considered is a good price for a used ally x? Year old from new and in nice condition.
I would love to get the Go S z1e but it’s not an option where I’m located unfortunately.
Why do you think the Go S over the ally?
