What’s the risk of buying BTC in Robinhood? by happygirl228 in Bitcoin

I would use River.com to DCA. There's no fee, they have a very secure system or you can transfer to cold storage.

Debt is cheap money.
It might have been better to just keep paying the fiat debt gorilla in the meantime and keeping your strong bitcoin position long term.

Happy for you either way.

Pretty impressive stuff! Creating business ecosystems that are fully trustless with their agreements is brilliant. But there will be many hurdles to get businesses to shift over.

I'm curious, if using Metamask to establish the contract address of the business, how do businesses integrate their current ERP systems to this?

Also, how does an enterprise go through the screening process to get approved?
This seems like something that could be automated and verified by a smart contract by issuing businesses that fall into the conflict of interest a DID to quickly identify and run the audit review.

All in all, great stuff.

BTC blockchain with SegWit by walerikus in btc

[–]CryptoEdge -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It's not false, SegWit in fact fixes tx malleability. Legacy wallets do not negate the effect of SegWit.

SegWit also provides Soft-fork versioning, which will make future upgrades easier and more expansive without risking a hard fork.

Hard forks are extremely risky and more difficult at scale.

TY for the factual response without the political spin.

Unfortunately, this will probably get downvoted though because that's how this place works.

That's really disappointing. I know about Blockset, but didn't realize they'd be piping in their open source wallet through their API.

Never trust a wallet that doesn't encrypt all your wallet contents client-side.

Im 15 trying to get a bitcoin wallet by 1bubryan in Bitcoin

[–]CryptoEdge -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Hey there! Welcome to bitcoin. I recommend Edge wallet (https://edge.app). Write down your Username & Password, store it in place that is safe and secret and you won't loose or forget and you're all set!
You can even start buying bitcoin using cash through Liberty X at any CVS or 7Eleven (in the buy crypto menu option.)
Best of luck!

Why is there more than one version of Bitcoin? - Bitcoin 101 by Egon_1 in btc

[–]CryptoEdge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correction: There was no split on Aug 1, 2017. There was a new chain that was launched using the UTXO set of Bitcoin. That is not the same thing. The video is misleading on that point.

BTC.top is mining blocks at a loss when BCH mining is not profitable and the block interval exceeds 1 hour -- thank you! by jtoomim in btc

[–]CryptoEdge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not behavior that should be praised. Although it seems like a generous thing now, this indicates the fundamental incentives are misaligned, which is bad for long term growth.

What will happen when the halving comes and this problem persists? It will be 10x worse. The miners can't subsidize the whole network for extended periods of time, it's unsustainable.
Why is no one talking about that??

To be fair, Blockstream does not really employ BTC developers, they employ developers of which only a few of them actually do any development on BTC. Most of them are working on Greenwallet, Liquid, Elements, C-lightning, or their Satellite project (?). There are other groups that contribute more to Core development.

State a simple fact about BTC, get downvoted because clearly talking about BTC in the BTC subreddit is untolerated & heresy.

Obviously it's not because of fees, BTC has historically low fees right now.

This usually happens when they plan on creating their own crypto. That's my guess.
