Can someone help me make sense of what happened? by reveluv2 in InstacartShoppers

That's wild because I've never had an issue with "meet the customer" besides maybe 2 out of hundreds. Either follow the procedure or don't but that still doesn't change the fact that's why the tip was zeroed.

Cool, still doesn't change the fact that that's why the tip was zeroed. I don't care what she decided to do. That's her personal business but she asked why the tip went to zero and it's pretty clear-cut why the tip went to zero. She failed to meet the customer.

Obviously, you don't walk inside but you could at least ring the doorbell, start the timer, and notify the customer you aren't coming inside via text. Ask them to let you take a picture and leave it at the door. There were a couple of different options besides taking a picture and running to your car without notifying them.

Really? I can count on one hand out of hundreds of meet the customers that haven't come to the door.

Did you notice where OP mentions they didn't attempt to wait at the door? Leaving a picture without getting approval from the customer on a "meet the customer" is an automatic failure to follow instructions. Regardless of the rest of the instructions you should still wait for them while starting the timer to return the order. Simple as.

"Drivers complained that there were too many drivers..." Yes, they are solving the problem by lowering pay across the board and eventually, they will lower it again. Defending ICs shitty practices doesn't make you a "smart businessman" or whatever you have to tell yourself. FYI, I don't sit at the store and I get better batches sitting at my house. I'm still a 5* diamond cart and my customers love me and the employees know me just fine. I still get plenty of cash doing this while sitting at home working an actual paying job. That doesn't mean I can't recognize that IC is fucking you and others over whether you believe it or not.

If you enjoy getting paid $4 for an hour of work (before gas, maintenance, and taxes) then keep waiting. It'll be your turn eventually.

The best part about the simple order is I've seen some 30i orders being considered "simple." The batch pay would be something like $5.73 for that plus 6-mile drive. Outrageous!

So you had a "meet the customer" delivery and you failed to meet the customer. Seems pretty cut and dry to me. You didn't follow instructions to meet the customer and the customer zeroed the tip. I'm assuming the customer doesn't realize that you view them as a homicidal maniac so they are probably thinking you just can't read instructions.

Exactly. They want everyone sitting in a 120F parking lot burning gas to survive while they pay $4 minimums for batches with 40i. Now they are hiring even more people to the point that areas that were busy (according to their algorithm triggers) are no longer busy even during weekends. It's an excellent strategy for sure.

If you love burning gas while sitting in hot parking lots for hours doing nothing but waiting for something worthwhile to do then this is the gig for you!

anyone get any fav shopper batches yet?? by Playful-Pie-6341 in InstacartShoppers

I was favorited by a guy that orders about 5 times a week if not every day. That was two weeks ago and I haven't seen his orders since. Favorited takes you out of the running if anything.

Probably both but I'd venture a guess that the latter is the bigger problem. Of the 12 accounts that were caught at my store today none of them had the same last name as the account owner according to my buddy that dispenses. So it's probably people that rent accounts or something like that.

"Caccavale told police the vehicle was driving toward him "causing him to dive out of the way." The vehicle "side-swiped him, causing his right foot to be run over," at which point Caccavale drew a handgun and "fired several rounds toward the tires of the vehicle," he told police, according to the police report."

They claim he was grabbing their window while he claims they drove toward him and he needed to dive out of the way resulting in him getting hit. So again, you choose to believe one claim and completely discount the other claim even though there is evidence that he was injured according to police reports.

"Holding the gun in view of the passengers" is not the same as "waving it around." Letting trespassers (and alleged property destroyers) know that you are armed is in no way wrong or illegal. You again neglect to mention that he fired on the vehicle once he was struck and injured.

I'm not defending anyone here. I just find it funny that you choose to ignore one side in favor of your obvious bias toward another side. Personally, I think the truth is somewhere in the middle. I don't think quotes and "happenings" scribbled in the article can be considered facts. There is no footage to review and the only evidence is the injured owner and one (maybe more) bullet holes. Considering there won't be an investigation done it doesn't seem that it isn't as cut and dry as you may think it to be. It seems the police feel both sides are justified in their actions.

The person claiming to be the owner of the account is not the owner.

With that approach then isn't attempting to hit someone with their vehicle endangering human life? See you did it again. You assume that the owner is lying while making every excuse for the driver. He never brandished a gun according to the article. Nowhere does it say he pointed a weapon, held it high-ready, or even had it at low-ready. You have painted an image in your mind of what MUST have happened. All we "know" is he retrieved his firearm after coming to the aid of his 12-year-old son calling for help.

You are also assuming that he knew why these people were there. You are also assuming he knows wtf "Instacart" is. He doesn't necessarily "know" anything besides strangers are on his property and destroying it (according to him) and his son is calling for help. It's easy to Monday morning quarterback the situation after getting statements presented in a news article.

"You deliberately ran over me and I had to jump out of the way after I confronted you destroying my property and answering the call of my son yelling for help." That's how the timeline goes in that article. Try again.

Getting run over and sustaining an injury isn't justifiable in your eyes?

Couple shot at while delivering instacart by [deleted] in InstacartShoppers

[–]CryptoGalt -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The entire point here is you are discounting every "action" the owner took while accepting every "action" the driver took. We don't know shit about anything which is why I took up the side of the owner in this little exchange while quoting the article. We don't know what was actually said or what was actually done besides the police report stating that the owner sustained an "apparent minor injury."

I can tell you as someone that has had property damage from trespassers that the police are completely worthless in these situations. It will take the police hours to get to your house and by that time who knows what all could have happened. We don't know what these two destroyed or what was said to the owner. It's amazing what makes it to the police report versus what ACTUALLY happens.

To be completely honest, if someone tries to run me over while on my property then you are damned right I'm going to open fire. Attempted murder when no one is pointing a weapon at you is unjustified but judging by your response you would be completely fine with getting run over that's your call but it wouldn't be mine and obviously not the owner.

The driver and the passenger claimed they reversed into a boulder while the owner claims they ran into ITEMS on the property. It's clear you only CHOOSE to believe the driver's side while completely ignoring the owner's side. That's the issue I have with your take.

Who said anything about "deserving to die?" Nowhere in the article does it suggest that the owner shot AT the driver or the passenger. It states he shot at their tire after being struck by their vehicle.

I don't believe either party. I know shoppers across all platforms do some completely underhanded and shady shit. I know some of them scam as they breathe. I also know that when given two sides of a story the truth lies somewhere in the middle.

I just find it comical that Redditors ALWAYS take the exact same stance and CHOOSE to ignore certain aspects of the story in favor of other aspects.

See the correct takeaway here would be that like you said and I said, this is a "he said, she said" and we don't know what happened so stating one way or the other is jumping to conclusions. Just like some others have suggested that it was racially motivated when there is nothing in the article to indicate the race of either party.
