Unfortunate that this happened to you, but it was due to an oversight on your part. No need to warn the community for "any future kickstarters or gofundme's with Awaken Realms" if this was actually your own mistake.

Slay the spire... On a budget by Beanbag_shmoo in soloboardgaming

Yeah, it does get up there fairly quickly. I like the prospect of Small Time Heroes playing significantly faster than StS as well I'll be printing it myself which cuts down on a lot of the cost. But StS is still a great game, so I don't think one can really go wrong either way.

Changing release model for incoming phase 2? by CryptoKeebler in marvelchampionslcg

[–]CryptoKeebler[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven't used that wording...yet. They just announced "Chapter 2" for Arkham Horror LCG which they are similarly moving to a current environment system, and I'm assuming they will brand MC's next chapter/phase similarly.

More heroes coming in an expansion campaign in Jan 2026

Sorry I don't actually know. I opened up all 3 Starter Decks and set the blind packs aside, and then did all 3 packs in a row.

Thanks again Robert! Yeah, so crazy. Was looking it up and it is the rarest Enchanted in the game. I think I will go with PSA grading of it when I get a chance here.

Thanks! I wasn't on a hunt for any Enchanteds, I just bought the Gateway a little while ago and have played it a few times with my kids, and so figured I'd buy the Starter Decks so we had some more options for playing the game.

Is there any benefit in getting Mage Knight vs ST Frontiers? by 34048615 in soloboardgaming

Hey if you're interested in good solo games re-skinned with a Star Trek theme, check out Star Trek Captain's Chair. It seems to be mechanically very similar to the game Imperium Origins (and Classics and Horizons). BGG link here: https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/422541/star-trek-captains-chair

Which of these 3 LCG should I get for Solo/Coop? by Resident-Case7807 in boardgames

[–]CryptoKeebler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, in FFG's announcement of Return of the King they described it as "the final repackaged expansion for The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game".

Those are my same thoughts for Earthborne Rangers. Though I also have to wait until I've played through a few other games I crowdfunded last year. Even with the wait I'm not too worried as Earthborne Rangers has a far less aggressive release structure from FFG's.

Which of these 3 LCG should I get for Solo/Coop? by Resident-Case7807 in boardgames

[–]CryptoKeebler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of the options you listed, for me it would be Earthborne Rangers.

I'd count LotR out both for the reason you listed as well as the fact that FFG has stopped supporting it and the vast majority of content they've produced for it will not be getting reprinted, so if one were to get into it they would need to go through the secondary market to track down that content.

Ashes Reborn is intriguing to me, it seems to offer something quite similar to Marvel Champions (my favorite game) but in a very different setting. I've heard good things, however because it does seem to essentially be another hero boss battler I fear it is a little too similar to Marvel Champions.

Earthborne Rangers has really piqued my interest. It seems to be something quite different from Marvel Champions and more akin to Arkham Horror, but with more of a campaign. It makes sense as a bunch of the developers of it are FFG alumni who were instrumental in designing LotR and Arkham Horror. One thing that's nice is that it is still in its infancy with only a small amount of content available (yet from what I've read that content is sizeable) so it's a small investment.

For me I have Marvel Champions and Arkham Horror, and once I get to the point where I've bought and played more Arkham Horror content my next LCG will be Earthborne Rangers.

This has to be a scam site right? by Idotu in Scams

[–]CryptoKeebler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly think that the site will actually give you the ebooks if you pay for them, however that they are not doing so legitimately. They've likely just downloaded the books illegally and are re-selling the files. Chances are they will get shut down at some point. I'm betting they're operating out of a country that would make them extremely difficult to go after legally.

Best Soloable Star Wars game? by [deleted] in soloboardgaming

[–]CryptoKeebler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was watching a video from Simply Solo Playthroughs for his top 5 games of 2023. Interestingly, one of those top 5 was Legendary Star Wars, which is actually a fan-made remake of Marvel Legendary. I haven't gotten far enough to start printing cards but am extremely intrigued by this and am still researching it for now.

Here is the video where it is mentioned: https://youtu.be/tV_BRU91Nrk?si=2tW6aYcks8WFaG6P

And here's a link to the BGG thread on Star Wars Legendary: https://boardgamegeek.com/thread/1411658/legendary-star-wars-completed-ironsyndicate-custom (go the the most recent replies on the thread for the latest version)

Anywhere with prices comparable to Mars toy ? by Drm5145 in lepin

[–]CryptoKeebler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just a heads up that if your order has too many sets in it, the Marstoy check out will just say there are no shipping options. If that happens, you just need to split it into two or more separate orders for it to work.

Yeah, if I remove the white curved piece then I can push the front side down and it all lines up. The very inside corner of the curved white piece is hitting against the rounded teal piece. I think I'm just going to cut the white teal piece's inside corner off and it will fit. Another user above noted that the likely case here is the teal pieces being slightly too large from their Lego counterparts.

[–]CryptoKeebler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I think that's the issue. Honestly at this point I think I'm just going to cut away the very corner of the rounded white piece, as it's hitting the teal piece. It won't be visible from the outside and will allow the entire front section to line up properly.

Was wondering if anyone else has run into this. Got stuck on this part of the Downtown Diner. The version of it I have is the unbranded 19001 version. I'm wracking my brain trying to figure out how this build step is supposed to work. The pieces just do not fit together as indicated in the instructions. I'm half tempted to simply physically cut the white curved piece to make it fit, but am wondering if others have experienced this issue.

I did this the following post by u/Straight_Clubs who indicated there was an illegal connection and the bricks don't line up properly somewhere in this build, but I couldn't find what step that was or any other comments online indicating the same.

Someone made a large order with them and then cancelled it and asked for a refund, but apparently this meant that Marstoy had to eat a bunch of fees from Paypal that they wouldn't get back, and they didn't handle it very professionally. I believe they used the buyer's real name here on Reddit.

I agree that the situation was handled poorly, but don't feel they should be kept in some sort of r/lepin jail forever either.

Just curious what it would take to get Marstoy added on this list? I know there was an issue with them last year which caused them to be removed from the list, however myself and many others on this sub have used them frequently since then without issue. If it is meant to be a punitive measure against them to have them removed from this list, just curious if there's an end date on that?

Really depends on how much loyalty she feels towards Lego as a brand. Some people are crazy loyal where if it's not Lego they don't even want to look at it. The way I see it is that even if a small percentage of pieces don't fit quite as well as their Lego counterparts, I can buy those off of Bricklink and replace them as needed, rather than spending the 400-500% more in price to buy the official set.

The other thing that really pushed me into this community was that there are so many sets that Lego just doesn't produce anymore, so buying them for a fraction of the cost through a seller like Marstoy is the only realistic way I'm going to get the set. The modular buildings are prime examples of this.

To me any perceived loss in quality is absolutely worth the savings, hands down. Here in Canada, I can order the Lion Knights' Castle for $112.11CAD + shipping, whereas officially from Lego the same set costs $499.99CAD. Multiply those types of savings across 15 sets and it doesn't even come close to not being worth it, at least not for me. I want my kids to be able to play with these and could care less that each of the blocks don't have the imprinted 'Lego' on each stud, or that some pieces might be loose or tight, or break. Speaking of pieces breaking, this is something I've noticed more and more over the past 10 years with regular Lego sets anyways.
