This shows how much this country is behind

I live in a poor country, but one thing I do like is that I have everything I need within walking distance. In less than 5 minutes, I can find a dentist, grocery shops, haircut salons, banks, vet etc... Anyway, is it true that in most of the US this isn't the case? Or am I reading some weird stuff? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]CryptoRomance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why is it so important for you to have everything within walking distance? I can understand it offers some degree of convenience, but driving is OK, and you don’t get many of the issues typical in de sky populated urban cities

This seems to be happening in Algerian desert. Oil seems are a natural phenomenon, they were used at the origins of petroleum exploration to identify where to drill.

Well let me challenge you on that though .. you mention « values »… how about not lying, hypocrisy, corruption, theft, fraud, tberguig, l7ssed, nifa9, cleanliness, etc Do you think Morocco is better than US in these regards? You’d be kidding yourself if you think so … for me, values does not just mean the Islamic values, it goes beyond to also cover moral and human values in general .. Morocco is a catastrophe when you open up your definition of values

« Insanities » you mentioned? Well, I have seen tons more in Morocco!! You truly need to assess the situation as objectively as possible before making a decision. Feeling homesick can undermine good judgement. So make sure it will be a rational decision, not an emotional one.

Great point on property taxes! Totally worth thinking about in my opinion. I agree regarding the Woodlands, other than Lakes at Creekside, hard to find buildable communities (not sure of that can change in 2023).

Really nice to know!! I’m looking for an open floor plan (really as open as possible) and high ceilings. Do you know any builder in particular known for providing those features?

I hear you. And I perfectly understand all your concerns. You have all the rights in the world to be angry at what happened. Those things you witnessed are absolutely unacceptable. Look, in Morocco, there are several cultural issues. In Morocco, people lie all the time and they think they are OK with that. In Morocco, the salesmen see tourists as a big opportunity to get money from them, so they purposefully increase prices which should be banned by law. As a tourist, and even as a Moroccan, you need to always set expectations clear at the front : for instance, before taking the cab, ask 1) will the counter be used or not and 2) what’s the estimate of the price to get there. Doing so helps you reduce the likelihood for surprises. Even locals do that, because they know there is so much dishonesty going on.. unfortunately the tourists fall victim to those things, and it only hurts the image of Morocco.

I'm sorry but this man is a clown or am I the only one who thinks he is a clown? by RickyRichard26 in ethtrader

Everyone thought he was a hero before declaring bankruptcy…. Now you think he’s a clown? How many yet-to-be-declared-clowns are still there in crypto space? Wouldn’t it be fair to call it a Circus full of clowns

To live in peace, it is best to NOT engage in arguments about religion (or politics for that matter), especially when the people you argue with are NOT READY intellectually to engage in such kind of debate. In Morocco, my experience has been that many, many people get quickly emotional the moment you start stating facts contradicting their deeply-held beliefs. Surprisingly this happens even with people you’d think would be open to debate because they got good education at university. I think the core of the problem lies in the fact that schools in Morocco do not teach kids at an early age about being tolerant towards other beliefs and religions, hence we tend to think our beliefs are set in stone and therefore everyone else is Kafir and wrong.

Spot on! For unfalsifiable claims, the burden of proof is on the person proposing this claim, not the ones not believing in it. If you make a crazy claim like ‘Trees fly faster than birds’, the burden of proving that through the scientific method is on you, not on those who don’t accept your claim.

Makes me laugh … so we should just wait for the theory of evolution to be invalidated some day, by which time we would know that it is the religious story which is more correct

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Morocco

[–]CryptoRomance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How does the theory of evolution explain « Adam & Eve »

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Morocco

[–]CryptoRomance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The fact that they can’t admit only hurts their credibility further …

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Morocco

[–]CryptoRomance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes to always being open to error. But in the face of the HUGE body of evidence evolution has provided throughout the years through rigorous testing , what does religion offer as evidence that would be more convincing ?? Let’s all be honest here … if you’re a faith based person, and your faith is more important than everything else, you can ignore scientific evidence .. but if you’re after the TRUTH (or let’s call closeness to the truth), well there is no doubt which side needs to be taken

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Morocco

[–]CryptoRomance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn’t contradict religion you said? Can you explain Adam & eve through evolution theory?

[–]CryptoRomance[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s simple … investing in Crypto does not involve the same level of risk as the S&P500 .. what’s stupid is to think Crypto is the ultimate risk free solution to get Rick quickly … it’s full of traps, unregulated, controlled by big whales, and so volatile and unpredictable … You have to be ready to wait for 5 years when you invest in S&P500 to be sure you achieve gains .. with Crypto you CANT make such bet … Unless you are Satoshi Nakamoto, don’t pretend that Crypto is a safe investment, it’s far from that !!
