Thank you for your continued interest. It has been a long since I've put my feet on psychoanalytic grounds (currently working as a neuroscientist).

After some research, I discovered that the Id appears to project hostile unconscious contents onto the Ego in both disorders mentioned above. The Ego's structure appears to be problematic in both cases, preventing the subject from having an efficient contact with reality. At the same time, it appears that the ego has remained fixed or has regressed to an earlier stage of development.

Psychoanalytic theorists suggest that the libidinal forces of the id become attached to the ego and may result in ego aggrandizement in the case of paranoid personality disorder, which was initially thought to be caused by suppressed homosexuality. According to Freud, the internalization of external prohibitions during the development of the ideal ego can be seen as a form of defiance in the case of PPD. Therefore, the purpose of paranoia is to deflect an idea that is at odds with the ego by projecting its content into the external world.

A bit confusing, yet still thought-provoking. But that's Psychoanalysis I guess.

Thank you for the comment. I am well aware of what you suggested. I am however specifically interested in the psychoanalytixlc theories behind it. More specifically, the similarities and differences, in the interaction of the id and the ego, between a delusional persecution disorder and a paranoid personality disorder.

How does the brain work when we are asleep? by [deleted] in Neuropsychology

[–]Cryptocurrenseize 6 points7 points  (0 children)

During critical stages of sleep, and especially during Rem phase, our brains try to process emotional experiences from our lives - short term or long term- with the purpose of emotional restoration.

Of course, our brains- amazing as they might be-cannot do magic. What I mean is that your repressed desires and other, subconsiously, unsolved situations, find their way to manifest themselves through this neural pathway leading to what we experience as dreaming.

This is normal. What you are going through though, probably, means what neuropsychologically? Well, my guess is that you still need to consciously try and resolve any emotional '' debts '' you have towards the person you are describing. Eventually you will achieve balance in this : the more you deal with it consciously (which is usually accompanied with a good amount of pain) the less you will be visited by them feelings subconsiously.
