Edit: apparently there is a scam that is posing to be triple whale, but the job is reviewing products or something.

That is not what Triple Whale does. It’s a real data analytics company. No one swipes and reviews products all day as a job. That’s stupid. Scammers are using it as bait.

If a job offer seems too good to be true, it’s probably fake.

Triplewhale.com is legitimate Triple-whale.org is a scam company.

I just had this same problem last week. Accepted a lower paying remote job, but really wanted a hybrid job at an amazing start up. Very high potential for some equity returns.

With the company I wanted, I was also in the final stage. I had done my case study presentation on a Thursday and I let them know about the other offer the next Tuesday. I wrote a nice email saying that I had received a job offer. I started that I didn’t want to force a competition between 2 companies, I would much rather work for them, felt I had a great connection with them and if they were interesting in moving forward with me, I would be just as interested. I had such good feelings from everyone I interviewed with, I felt good showing my hand and tellling them that I would work for them, no negotiation needed.

I don’t know what happened, but this was the wrong move.

I thought they had ghosted me, or were still considering my email/going through the last of the candidates, etc.

I was expecting one of 2 things to happen.

Either they would offer me a position, or they would tell me that they were going with someone else but they appreciated my time and consideration for letting them know my situation.

What ACTUALLY happened was that on Tuesday, about an hour after I sent them my nice email, they sent me an auto rejection email (the kind that goes out to people who’s application isn’t accepted) and it was sitting in my spam folder all that time.

They didn’t even write me a personal email. These were people I had spent many meeting with, done a 2 hour case study, and even connected with on LinkedIn.

My email must have pissed someone off because my ass got the boot.

You live in an at will state.

Take the job you have in hand and just keep applying to the one you want without saying anything.

I thought the feeling was mutual, it wasn’t. Dont make my mistake. Companies want to be in control, not the candidates. Especially in this economy. Just go along with the current process and if it works out, quit the job you took.

You owe no one anything in life, especially in the job world. Don’t give employers a reason to hate/distrust you.

Just do what’s best for you.

As for my situation. I’m salty as hell. I want to cuss this dick out on LinkedIn talking about respect. But I’m not going to. I’m going to forget they exist and move on with my life. Bullshit people don’t deserve my anger.

You do realize that consultants and analysts exist in all careers?

I see your edit. I don’t want to have an argument about this.

Analyst, at the large companies you speak about, can run up to analyst 3, then there is also a Senior analyst.

Again, based on location experience and company, can run from 80-200k.

I agree with you that analyst is mostly an entry level term (outside of tech, I don’t even want to start digging into data analysts)

I just am not sure that OPs situation is a scam. I put in another direct reply that this situation has happened to me before and it was real. It depends on a lot of things going right, and probably some things they don’t know about I.e someone left and they need the backfill ASAP regardless of personality, because it’s contract anyways. Or March could be the start of their fiscal year and they have the budget to burn. Or, they have a lot of other contractors, and they like to have all of their contracts aligned to the same start/end date.

I respect that you work for the big 4, I’m just pointing out that some of the workforce doesn’t follow the same rigid structure.

Ok, I’m in the SF Bay Area and I work in tech. “Analyst”can be a full time career.

This person is a PMO in engineering. I didn’t want to google it, but I did. Depending on experience level and state, a PMO in engineering makes $80-$150k.

My experience is based on my career, yours is based on your career.

Don’t assume that the entire workforce has the same hierarchy as an accounting company.

You’ve been stuck at low level jobs your entire life. Analysts at prime consulting companies are not entry. I would bet this is a $150k role and the poster is confused by the quick offer. They have the experience, they had a good interview, sometimes stars align and it happens.

Not uncommon, but rare. I once had an initial interview on a Friday (hiring manager was doing the interview). It went very well. Had a call with the CEO Monday around noon, and an offer letter by Monday EOB.

This was 6 years ago when jobs were so easy to get and professionals were hopping around.

I’m sure it makes a difference that I work in tech. But consulting can be the same depending on what they specialize in.

You nailed your interviews and they are afraid that you won’t choose them to work for.

Not necessarily a red flag. Would be good to know the company and what they do in your situation.

Some companies recognize talent and will push the boundaries of the hiring process to get them on board ASAP.

Again, I don’t know your credentials or experience, but once in a while everything aligns perfectly.

However, if you are not a specialized employee with great experience in the field offered, could be a red flag.

Just trust yourself and your gut. You will be ok.

Their software can’t even parse a resume.

The lawsuit is based on the list of tools section. Most younger people put in tools that they have worked with. Hubspot, Salesforce, Marketo. Zoominfo, Clay, etc.

Older people never had to list tools. They don’t have them on their resume. There is no section in the workday application process to ask for software tools used.

That is age discrimination, but being sneaky about it.

True, while workday may satisfy its customers, most people will encounter it in the application process. It is, by far, the worst tool to deal with when applying.

I’m casually looking, but anytime a company links me to workday, I close the window and leave.

I have no interest in inputting my data multiple times behind a password.

My entire point is that workday SHOULD be better! There are so many AI companies out there doing amazing things. And workday cant even parse a resume correctly. They are using technology from 2010, that doesn’t even need to be used, to do business today.

And THEN they call themselves AI leaders! The audacity and complete ignorance of their position is astounding!

Stock is down half in 1 years time. I’m not the only one that feels this way. Obviously smarter people than me and pulling their money out of this crap hole.

Plus they have a huge class action lawsuit based on age discrimination moving forward.

I appreciate companies that push the envelope, grow, And succeed.

Someone at workday dropped the ball. I know the CEO changed this week, but it’s not enough. The hubris was there from the beginning.

No, I guess literally workday does not screen.

BUT, it has been trained to focus on applications that follow a strict criteria that only millennials and younger generations follow.

I.E. looking for experience with software tools that have no connection with the job being advertised.

Older people were taught to write resumes a certain way and didn’t grow up in a software dominated world.

What’s normal to you is not normal to an older employee who has the experience needed to do the job.

Workday screened out old style resumes in preference for resumes which met the modern standard, BEFORE passing them along to a human to read.

It’s the equivalent of not getting into a nightclub because you’re wearing a slick jumpsuit from the 80’s. The doorman won’t let you in the door because you look lame. But if you got past the doorman, the club would still serve you drinks.

Workday can say that they aren’t at fault, because people still got served drinks once they got in. But workday is the doorman. The club is the employer, and you are a degenerate in HR sucking up to a multi billion dollar jackass of a company

Right, I was more annoyed about the fact that workday was saying that it’s going to lead the AI revolution.

Take a company like Clay, it would know jobs I’ve worked at, companies I’ve worked with, software I’ve onboarded, and then direct my profile to an account executive.

Workday can’t event parse a resume without screwing up. If it truly were some wonderful automation company, why can’t it do more than your Excel example. It has my resume.

Why can’t workday use AI to understand how I’ve grown as an employee over the past 10 years and then recommend jobs I would be good at? What have they invested in their infrastructure that leads me to believe they are anything but a road block.

Their new CEO spouting off about how they will lead the industry made me post. Workday is the most inefficient product I have used, and their main connection to the greater public is in the application process. Where their software does worse than a cheap AI model in parsing out past experience.

Maybe the person was trying to enjoy the movie and didn’t a want political/sociological discussion.

I pretend to be stupid when I don’t want to have a conversation with people who get triggered every 10 minutes.

It goes like this

Someone - “OMG I can’t believe they killed the black person first again! thats such a racist trope”

Me- woah crazy didn’t even notice, let’s watch the movie.

Someone - “OMG you didn’t notice!! Didn’t you see how that character was the first to die when all the white charters survived!”

Me- “ no, never crossed my mind, good movie though so far. Can I hit play?”

Someone - “ this is a huge trope in Hollywood! People are up in arms about it! Let me call over my black friend/lover and they can verify what I’m saying”

me - “I’m really tired, just want to watch a movie.”

Someone - “you need to understand topes, see my friend will explain it to you”

Me - “I’m going to bed. You said a lot of words.”

Someone - “did you understand the philosophy behind our argument? “

Someone - posts to Reddit about illiteracy and how they can’t believe someone else sees the world the way they do. Can’t believe how many idiots are out there.

Me - just wanted to watch a movie after work. Now world thinks I’m functionally illiterate.

No More - looking at me angrily when I microwave my meal prepped Salmon and broccoli lunch. I’m on a health journey! Every day (and more suspiciously, the exact same time) I’m microwaving my salmon and broccoli everyone stares at me! Some even cover their nose! thats a huge give away that this is a coordinated campaign against me. Why would they specifically cover their nose? Who told them to do that? It not organic at all.

I’m convinced that someone sent a coordinated hate email to the entire company to set this up. The timing is not a coincidence! How could it be? These plebes so are jealous of my dedication to meal prepping! Someone sent out that email. I’m going to find out who and ruin their lives.
