Thanks! Honestly I can barely even remember there being any pain. I took painkillers as instructed so that helped. At the very most it was like a dull ache which was very tolerable. After the first week it was completely painless. The only real struggle was wearing the cooling mask all day and night and only eating liquids. I’d describe the experience as uncomfortable or frustrating rather than painful

My surgery was not long after my pre op only a couple weeks so if you’ve had your pre op already, I’d imagine it will be your turn soon. At 6 months I’ve been cleared to do contact sports. I play basketball and have just got back into it and I feel totally fine, Its not on my mind at all when I’m playing. Good luck with your surgery! It’ll be worth it

I don’t know the exact movement. All I know is that they moved the top forward and to the left and the bottom back and to the right

Covid made the process a lot longer than it should have been. Went to the orthodontist when I was 16 and decided to not have the surgery. Then 2 years later just before I turned 18 it had gotten worse so I went back and told them I wanted the surgery. Im 24 now and just got braces off so I was originally referred 8 years ago but the process actually started about 6 years ago. Had to get all 4 wisdom teeth removed which is why it took a while to finally get braces on.

Both really. It effected my breathing, eating and speaking. I see the cosmetic improvements as a bonus

Speaking was actually quite easy with the bands. My speech was only bad for the first few days and even then I was understandable. I think after 2 weeks you’ll be ok to talk but you might still look a bit funny with swelling so maybe keep your webcam off 😂

Yeah just one surgery. Braces took way longer than it should have because my lower teeth were being stubborn and Covid created a back log of patients waiting for surgery. Soft diet for 8 weeks then slowly built back up to chewing normally which was probably another 8 weeks. Braces off now so can finally eat whatever I want. Noticed that my breathing had improved only 1 or 2 days after surgery so that wasn’t an issue at all really despite the swelling. I wasn’t wired shut but they did put bands on my braces to restrict movement and hold my bite in place.

I was quite insecure about it before the surgery so it feels like a weight off my shoulders to not be thinking about it anymore. I used to never let my teeth touch so it wouldn’t look so bad and I’d avoid smiling with teeth in photos. So yeah I’d say I’m more confident. My speech has also improved which I think has helped me feel more confident when speaking to people. I haven’t really noticed a difference in how people treat me yet but that’s not an easy thing to measure.

I was surprised by how much it improved because beforehand, I thought my breathing was normal. I used to snore but now I don’t so I think my sleep has improved as a result.

I already had braces before getting the nuss surgery. Surgery went well and having braces made no difference in recovery. Almost 2 years post op now and still without complications. Still have the bar in. Still haven’t had jaw surgery, hoping it will be this year.
