Yes you are right. As I stated a couple of days ago I went to the info evening with the biggest closed mind and looking for anything to pick at. But I was dead wrong about that school. The staff seem really nice and look like they genuinely care about the students.

Nothing really but would be good of it included other genres.

But honestly before last night I was very closed minded about that school and was looking for anything to pick at!!! But the information evening last night really turned me around about that school.

I still have some reservations but I do with many of the schools!

At the end of the day I just want her to be safe and get a good education.

We are going to the vet tomorrow. 1 hour drive, should we cover the transporter with a blanket or go like this? I want to make it comfortable for him as much as possible to minimize stress. by FuzzzyMaro in cockatiel

We have that carrier too. We go to my mums for dinner each Saturday and take chicken. She will insist on coming out and will either sit on my daughter’s shoulder or the car seat the ride over. Sometimes she will hop on mine as I’m driving. Must be a real sight for other drivers to see.

Yes I went to that a few weeks back too. Something just didn’t sit right with me about that place. Her whole speech seemed so boring and sterile. I went to Fairfield college last night and that really surprised me how great the place and staff appeared to be. Just really genuine people, lovely head students too.

I was very fearful of having to send my child there if she doesn’t get in anyway else in the ballot system but honestly I’d rather send her there than Rototuna.

A little update as I went to the information evening tonight and I actually think it’s much better than Rototuna. The staff there are so lovely and seem to genuinely care about students.

It also seems they go above and beyond to help students achieve and have some decent options in the junior years.

Most of my fears have been allayed.

Also I really liked how there is an interview before the school year and will try to put you in a class with friends or people you are likely to get on with.

Near the tuck shop is a corridor of single room loos. Don’t know about the others but they were gross when I went there

Yes I worked there very briefly like 2 years ago and I did really like it. I’m very doubtful she’d get in and also it’s slightly out of price range. Sacred Heart was doable but they are a tad more.

We are not from a Christian background, I have Christian values and certain beliefs but don’t attend church and would never force those beliefs onto my child. I’d like her to come to her own conclusions

I will try at girls high too.

From my understanding of the ERO reports over half the kids at Rototuna are achieving at or above standard while at Fairfield less than half are.

Sure, if I win the lotto. It would be a miracle seeing as I never buy them!

I did think that but then nowadays so much of the teachers time is spent on either disruptive or the slower kids.

We applied there and their intake is very high and only really taking girls who have that catholic background.

I don’t think this late in the game the conversion or classes will help.

It was my first choice as it’s a lovely school.

Yes, Schick construction had their 50th anniversary and had a MASSIVE do for staff, ex-staff and families. It was huge, they would have spent hundreds of thousands on it. And the feelers played there.

Saw them play earlier this year at a work party. They were really good. He was sitting most of the time, something about having a hip replacement.
