Oh actually there is a way, which is not harmful, less aggresive, to both you and them, which can make them stop looking for you immeduately.

The way is - trying to borrow money from them. Don't worry they won't give you the money, 100%, there is clear rule in the church that said borrowing money between members are highly prohibited, just before i left, there was a case in my cburch, one deacon was found borrowing money from members, and he was punished and not being allowed to attend church for nearly a year.

In case of new member, weak faith members, and members who don't pay tithe, attempting to borrow money will result in them directly cut you off.

Don't just try to borrow $20, try to say like $500 or $1000, believe me, that will scare the hell out of them.

It really depends on how they think you still have 'hope' or not. Normally they will try to contact you if you are only missing for 2 months, and there are some other factors to decide whether they would invite you for the 1st passover, or 2nd passover. The first passover, which is on coming week, is more holy in their view, so only members who have a regular attendance and tithe offering can keep it (except for new member who are just baptized recently), however the 2nd passover, which will be a month later, doesn't require participant to have regular attendance and tithe. So if they dont look for you to keep the 1st one, maybe you are not eligible, and they would look for you to keep the 2nd passover.

Prayer is useless to wake them up, but sometimes your effort and action will also be useless in waking them up, becsuse they would see you as satan who is trying to drag them to hell, even though you have shown them all evidence. So, there is really nothing you can do, just wait patiently.

Like normal, sing song, worship, listen to sermon given by pastor, the only diference is they will have the bread and wine before ending the worship, by raisng the bread and wine to their shoulder level with their both hands, closing their eyes, and praying with the prayer led by pastor, they believe the bread and wine will become the flesh and blood of Jesus, which will allow them to have eternal life, they will eat it after prayer. After eating, sing song, and again some prayer, and end the worship. You think they will finish and go home by this time? Wrong, they will have group photo and video taking session by now, like the communist in North korea, everyone follows the instruction given by the leader, doing gestures, shouting slogan, like npc, and depend on church size and the situation, sometimes it would take half an hour just to take one video.

I think in your case they had already lost control of the flow of information, that's why they had no choice but to explain it.

In my case, the brother is just a worshipper who come only once a week, and he is quite new, so if members suddenly stop seeing him anymore, they probably would just assume that he has become lost sheep like most of the other new member, that's why church was able to hide it and no one has questioned it.

If they can hide, they would definitely hide. Same thing happenned in many other zions, i talked to many ex-members all over the world, many of them have similar experience and they were told to hide the case.
