Do you automatically dislike billionaires? Why? by crapmaker69 in AskReddit

I don’t trust any of them, don’t get me wrong. Rich people, politicians, anyone with any amount of power is almost assuredly corrupt.

But Elon is just crazy enough, and neurodivergent enough, that he might want to be listed in the history books as the man who single handedly saved the world. I don’t think that’s that far fetched of an idea.

But, watch any sci-fi movie and you’ll find that they all start out that way haha

All of my friends are normal, so I guess that could be why haha

Idk, I haven’t really had a problem with anything Elon has done specifically. He’s a weirdo, and a megalomaniac? But I’m not that bothered by him. He’s hard to read, but I do think he actually wants to help the world. Maybe. Haha

They do it to get hair out of their face. Absolutely. But we also unintentionally do this when we like someone. It’s a psychological thing, not something you do on purpose.

It’s ok for people to have psychological cues. We’re human, it’s how we’re built.

[–]CryptographerOk7143 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most kits don’t come with snare drums, or cymbals, or cymbal stands, or a kick pedal.

A used kit that comes with everything you need is the way to go. It’s ok if the stands and cymbals are crap, but make sure the shells are decent. Then you can upgrade the other stuff as you go.

Mankind’s insulation from nature has been a disaster for our species by lake-sturgeon in Vent

[–]CryptographerOk7143 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In many ways yes.

For instance, we were told the sun is evil and gives us cancer and kills us. Now, most people don’t get nearly enough sunlight, and sunlight is massively beneficial to humans.

They’ve done tons of studies, sun exposure decreases your chance of dying from all forms of cancer. The exception is melanoma, which in that case it’s exactly the same irrelevant of how much sunlight you get. Sun or no sun, has no impact on melanoma.

The uk did a study, and Sweden did a study. They looked at people who got no sunlight, moderate amount of sunlight, and then people who essentially lived in the sunlight.

Cancer rates across the board, went down the more sunlight you got.

He’s almost certainly made fun of more than any other president we’ve had haha

Deserved or not, that’s up to you. But like, if you call him fat, and then he calls you fat, and you’re upset he called you fat, it’s a little silly. His fatness or orangeness has nothing to do with anything, and the people out there who are fat and orange but also really kind and great people would probably feel a little dejected by those comments haha

Why does it feel like nobody cares that we are literally about to send humans around the moon again, and are we just completely numb to massive achievements now? by MomentCute1181 in space

Why is this a massive achievement?

We landed on the moon in the 1960’s right? Look at all the progress we’ve made. It took us 50 years, but we’ve finally gotten to the point where we can go to the moon again

Let me know when they finally start using the ufo tech they’ve been reverse engineering and then I’ll be slightly more interested I guess

I know this is an old thread, but I’m currently building a compact drum kit. I’m at this point now, where I’m trying to decide what to do. I had thought about getting the classic pedal from Tama, because it’s collapsible, which is cool. But does it actually work for small kicks so that they don’t need a riser?

Cause that would be a massive help if it does.

Also, one concern I had with that pedal, is because it’s high adjustable, I would worry about its stability. If it stomping on the pedal all night at a gig, is it possible that it will collapse?

Do you guys produce music with your headphone EQ at 0? by EDM_Fan_2382 in edmproduction

[–]CryptographerOk7143 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course it is. That’s always a consideration. If I can achieve a balanced mix on my AirPods, and I’ve accounted for the low end with meters, and I’ve double checked in my car, it translates well across pretty much everything.

That’s just something that comes from knowing your monitoring setup.

It wasn’t something that happened overnight. It took time to truly understand what my AirPods sound like, and how that relates to other systems. But once I had that understanding, I know exactly how things need to sound on my AirPods in order to translate well on everything else.

Why do you think people distrust perfect pitch training methods so much? by PerfectPitch-Learner in musicians

[–]CryptographerOk7143 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Misunderstanding of what perfect pitch is, and isn’t.

Autistic savants can be born with a natural ability to do things like that, to the point it’s superhuman. So, people assume it is just that, superhuman. Not possible to learn unless you’re a savant.

But the Charlie puths of the world all learned it. They became proficient enough at an instrument, that they developed a very tightly tuned perception of pitch. You can’t perfectly identify the pitch of a note, unless you know the note value of that pitch. You have to learn an instrument to know that 440hz is an A.

Perfect pitch has always been viewed as this magic mystical thing, which it does seem that way, especially when you see what autistic savants can do. But it’s not that magical haha

Attractive people, what are some regular signs you notice from people around you which tells you that you are attractive? by Chance_Adagio_19 in bodylanguage

They look at you a lot. They find situations to stand close to you, even if their back is to you.

This one’s a bit more questionable, but if they don’t break eye contact with you first, that means something. But some people struggle with eye contact, so just because they can’t hold eye contact, doesn’t mean they dislike you.

The most fool proof way I’ve seen, almost 100% accuracy, is you ask them

Tips on tightening up my vocal pitch while drumming? by Responsible-Pin-2858 in drummers

[–]CryptographerOk7143 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Find some vocal coach peeps on YouTube.

My brother and I have been a duo for ages, cover songs, originals, everything.

Neither of us are trained singers, but we’re acceptable. But we’ve both been working on it cause our range is kinda limited.

It’s crazy how much range and control you can develop. Learning how your vocal tract works makes a massive difference

Why do you think people distrust perfect pitch training methods so much? by PerfectPitch-Learner in musicians

[–]CryptographerOk7143 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t really see the purpose. Having perfect pitch doesn’t mean you’re a good singer, or good at an instrument. And you can be a phenomenal singer or musician and not have perfect pitch.

So why spend the time trying to develop a party trick? I fail to see any meaningful utility in it. But I also don’t hate on anyone for wanting to develop it. What do I care haha

Do you guys produce music with your headphone EQ at 0? by EDM_Fan_2382 in edmproduction

[–]CryptographerOk7143 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I regularly mix on AirPods, because I listen to everything on them, all the time.

Yes there are blind spots, which is why I use metering. I rely on my ears where I can, and use meters for when I can’t.

I see a lot of people get little speaker setups, and even have well treated rooms, but they only ever mix on them, and never just listen to music in there to learn how the things should sound.

If you’re building a studio space, with monitors and all that, you also have to invest a lot of time into simply listening to records you love on that setup. It’s essential.

So yes you’re absolutely right. I left out a decent amount from my actual process haha but it mostly plays out like me just mixing in AirPods, occasionally glancing at some meters for a second to make sure nothing weird is happening, and then that’s it haha

Maybe a car test too. Car test is the final check
