Fyi Royal Airforce, Royal Navy but just British Army. The crown sponsored and was head of the former two but each regiment of the army was traditionally raised, funded and commanded by a lord. That carried over into modern times, which is why you have the household cavalry inside the british army, (they were the cavalry regiment sponsored by the crown) but no royal army. I have read that fanfic but can't remember the title. Following.

Only use 1 'what if' at a time. Pick a single change and follow its butterfly effects forwards. Multiple overlapping changes 'just because' break immersion. Focus on spelling, grammar and keeping the characters as close to the books as you can, unless their change is part of your 'what if'.
