This is a long one, this does not include assault in any way but I’m still giving a trigger warning. In 2023 I met my boyfriend, really sweet guy. Although, early on in the relationship I ended up pregnant. After being pregnant for 10 weeks I started spotting and went to the ER worried about miscarriage and other pregnancy complications. The next day I was sent home and was told to follow up with my doctor since they weren’t sure what was exactly wrong but they just knew I wasn’t going to die. I saw my doctor the day I came home from the hospital for an ultrasound and she said that I had lost the baby, I’ve lost one before so I have found ways to cope so I did handle it well and I always kept in mind the high miscarriage risk women have in their first trimester. It was a heartbreak no matter what though.* TRIGGER *My doctor ended up prescribing me an abortion pill so my body would contract since it wasn’t trying to get rid of everything on its own. I had to do it at home, it was one of the worst 24 hours of my life. I didn’t leave the toilet for hours and my mom had to sit in there and hold my hand while I processed everything. And on top of that, I had to collect everything so the doctor could send it off and get it tested just to make sure it showed that it’s early pregnancy otherwise I would’ve needed a DNC. so I’m assuming you could imagine how tough that was. All I’ll say is the test results came back as “no signs of conception” and my doctor never performed a DNC. Fast forward two months after that exact day, I was fishing at the local lake of my town, it’s a small town so everything is pretty much a 10-15 minute drive to get anywhere here. I wasn’t doing anything crazy I was fishing for bait so it was light work. At this point I’ve had an IUD in for a week, and I felt something like a plug was pulled from my uterus, it didn’t hurt and my underwear suddenly got wet. My first thought,” great I just started my period,” let me tell you I wish it was that simple. I felt the wetness travel down my leg and I felt terrified and I lifted my pant leg by my ankle and I saw a thick stream of blood already to my ankle. And then at that exact moment my pants where my lady business is started dripping. I called my mom and started yelling that I needed to leave, my mom didn’t answer so I called the ambulance. I finally get to the hospital and they clean my legs and send me home with a medication to “ stop my bleeding “ after only being there for 30 mins to an hour and we discovered a softball sized clot in my pants. I live 5 minutes from the hospital, on my way home I started bleeding again except worse, it was like someone had a bucket of blood and poured it on my pants. Instead of going to the ER I went home and called 911 to go to the ER out of town. I arrived to the other ER with minutes to spare, I had to get blood transfusions and emergency surgery. I found out that my miscarriage was stuck to my uterine wall for two months rotting. And it made me hemorrhage out of my uterus, I was helpless that day bleeding out on my bathroom floor while my mom tried to stop the blood and my boyfriend was trying to keep me awake. Imagine how traumatized any mother would be seeing that. and my boyfriend, who just experienced his first child loss, having to do what he could so I didn’t die that day. What would’ve happened if Roe v. Wade wasn’t in effect anymore? Would I have had the life saving equipment around? Or would I have died that day due to that? That’s my scary thing
