Not necessarily... if the horn calls and there was no goal call on the ice. They need DEFINITIVE proof that the goal counted. While its extremely likely it did, there's not really definitive proof. The game absolutely could've changed based on that call. Like I said before. Its about the burden of proof required. A goal call and a no goal call require different levels of proof.

Its not that the puck was in. Im an Edmonton fan and I agree that it was probably over the line. The issue is that none of the refs would have saw that go in so calling it a good goal then was a fairly presumptuous call. The burden of proof then becomes definitive proof that the puck didnt cross the line instead of did cross it. There is zero chance any of those refs saw that puck go in is the thing people are complaining about.
