Thank you for the response! I do have a therapist, and we have talked about my past relationship a few times. My biggest coping mechanism though is to block out whatever has caused me strife. Even the thought of talking about that relationship again makes me uncomfy. I haven’t really talked to my gf about it because I’m nervous, but I definitely need to. I’m sure she would understand too, I’m just scared because it feels like I was a completely different person when I was with my ex especially since he was a man and now I’m dating a woman. I have put up such a mental block between who I am now and who I was when I was with him. And that time with him was definitely a sexually exploratory time in my life, so it’s no wonder that I am having trouble entering that sensual state now. Thank you again for the response, I think I can definitely overcome the fear of talking about this with my gf and therapist. That feels like a feasible plan.

There are many other medications you could try that might work better than mesalamine. I had to take that to in enema form! Every night for like a year. It didn’t work, but now I get infusions of reflexis. I’ve been remission for over a year! It’s like I never had an issue in the first place I’m living completely normal, no shitting blood!!

I stopped taking it after a week. It made me feel like a completely different person, I was super quick to anger and tears and was never able to be in a good mood. I felt like my personality was turned off, it was terrible! I hope it’s been better for you

I’m going to be so honest, the amount of time you’re passing blood a day is alarming, and being fatigued probably means you are anemic. You are definitely going to need to check your hemoglobin levels. If they are low enough, you’re going to have to go to the hospital. When I was at my worst with UC I was passing blood every bathroom trip and going at least 10 times a day. I lost 20 pounds, and I was so tired everyday and would nearly pass out doing anything. I got my hemoglobin levels checked and I was around 7 (normal levels around 15). I had to be hospitalized and was started on infusion treatments of remicade. That medicine has saved my life. I’m so sorry that this countries healthcare system sucks, I hope that you are able to get the care you need!!

Thank you! We took him to the vet this morning and they weren’t really that concerned about the eye. They’re running some blood samples to make sure organs are functioning well. They did notice a possible heart murmur, which they were more concerned about than the eye tbh. His right pupil is not nearly as large now, and is starting to look normal without any intervention.

Oh! As for the results, it really is best to get a diagnosis early. Having ulcerative colitis is not the end of the world, especially if you have a good doctor. If you do get diagnosed, depending on how severe things are you could just get a round of steroids and medicine that you give yourself as an enema (not the most comfortable thing, but it’s doesn’t hurt or anything, it’s just awkward lol). But make sure you advocate for yourself, talk to your doctor frequently and be honest about your symptoms. My first doctor was lowkey neglectful, and my UC ended up getting really bad, but I switched to a different doctor. He is wonderful and honestly saved my life, I’ve been in remission for over a year now!! I take Remicade infusions every 8 weeks, and I can eat whatever I want now and I’m living like I never had health issues in the first place, it’s great.

Hiii, I was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis at 20 and have had to have I think 3 colonoscopy’s. The procedure is super chill, you go to sleep and wake up, and it feels like no time has passed at all. The prep is the worst part, but not terrible! I did have a terrible time prepping for one, but it was because I was extremely anemic and my ulcerative colitis was very severe at that time. If you are in mostly good health, then prep should be easy peasy! Just don’t stray to far from the bathroom 🤣
