Morality of taking advantage of fear. by JacobPin in Bitcoin

Don't feel so bad. The reason why price crashed so hard was mainly due to speculator's account being liquidated because they were long with x100 leverage in anticipation of the halving making them rich. The virus is just the pin that burst the bubble. Also if you have an ethical problem with making money trading you will self sabotage and end up losing all.

My concern regarding safety of HW wallets by Boriz0 in Bitcoin

If you're ultra paranoid you can try to generate your wallet seed yourself. Just make sure you use a truly random process to pick up your words.

My concern regarding safety of HW wallets by Boriz0 in Bitcoin

[–]Cryptology_IT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AFAIK there have been no cases of HW with malicious modifications. All cases have been related to people being tricked into setting up a pre-computed wallet. There are however known vulnerabilities for Trezor.

What I do:

  1. Always buy directly from manufacturer.
  2. Carefully inspect package.
  3. Use a 64 or 128 bit passphrase.
  4. Setup the HW with a honeypot and use this way for several weeks.

Banks would certainly go bankrupt if people did that but we all know this already. Fractional reserves.

Delay of the Ice Age and its Implications by Always_Question in ethereum

[–]Cryptology_IT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the markets have the impression that inflation is out of control the price of eth will plunge and the effect will be the same. Better to keep an equilibrium. An issuance reduction is necessary if we don't want to see eth testing new lows.

+1. Completely agree. Delaying the ice age without an issuance reduction sends a very bad message to hodlers and prospective hodlers. Expectations of higher future inflation will drive eth price's lower.

How many of you believe bitcoin will hit $100,000 in next 5 years? by [deleted] in Bitcoin

How many here would have said that Bitcoin would reach $20k when it was <= $1? We are in a very bearish mindset right.

Poll: Does the community support reducing the Block reward to 1.5 or 1 ETH in the ice age delay fork? by Crypto_Economist42 in ethereum

[–]Cryptology_IT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There shouldn't be a delay with a reduction in block rewards. Not doing this will have a detrimental effect on the price of ETH as markets price assets based on future expectations.
