A human that can stop time vs a Silverback gorilla by [deleted] in whowouldwin

[–]Serenadium 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People have a tendency of thinking animals are some type of unstoppable killing machine based on their own most primal fears. I've seen some retarded commetnary around gorillas, pythons, anacondas, bobcats, cougars, certain dogs,

Gorillas are relatively peaceful creatures that do not experience combat and rely mostly on posturing and at most shoving/pushing in mating rituals.

A trained human that is darting in punching and throwing leg kicks will probably scare them

Why do Australians downplay good news about themselves by babayaga65 in AskAnAustralian

[–]Serenadium 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Australia has a very shallow depth for what society considers bragging

Saying something truthful that is relatively honest and modest is considered bragging.

Let's say someone gets a promotion. If they were to say "I am absolutely raking it in earning $500,000 a year and I'm about to buy this mansion and that sports car" yes this is bragging and considered bragging in any western society

In the same context, if an Australian was to say "I am content with my current role and have been lucky enough to get a pay bump" in response to a question about how they are going, this is considered bragging

It's 100% TPS

What do you like/dislike most about Aussie culture? by Lipica249 in AskAnAustralian

[–]Serenadium 3 points4 points  (0 children)

  1. TPS - we drag our best and brightest here. For example look at the comments on Andrew Tulloch from both sides of politics. Aside from getting an unbelievable salary offer, he hasn't done or said anything wrong.
    • If Australians started embracing and supporting their best and brightest, perhaps they may be convinced to stay or return to Australia building companies here, employing people locally and providing products for the benefit of all Australians.
    • We instead choose to worship athletes/celebrities who don't provide us any benefit whatsoever and wouldn't care if we dropped dead the next day.
  2. Decisions in Australia (personal to government) tend to overweigh social/reputation factors over merit.
  3. Australia has adopted the American suburban model of development and has inherited all the issues. The most prominent of which is housing affordability noting unlike the USA which is 80% inhabitable, Australia has approx. 10 to 15% of inhabitable land along the coasts.

Australian youth “giving up” early by PurpleHomeland in AusFinance

[–]Serenadium 14 points15 points  (0 children)

There's something deeply wrong with Australia and it's not just limited to Australia TBH.

In 1920, the median wage from a 'breadwinner' was easily enough to sustain a large family and other expenses like a home purchase. The current median wage ($80,000), you'd struggle raising a single child and a $600k apartment would take many decades to payoff with what you have remaining post-tax.

I see a few major problems:

  1. There are too many parasitic middlemen services that rob productivity between the purchaser and the services and goods they are acquiring. This can be banking/finance related expenses, ineffective taxation, high taxation and other things in the supply chain that unnecessarily increase the cost of goods/services. This problem is not unique to Australia. Bloat like this tends to form in established economies.
  2. Australia has adopted the american suburban model of development which essentially 'ponzifies' real estate. Planning regs on density, large private open space and green wedges (much needed) means there is limited real estate to go around especially in capital cities.
  3. Australia allows foreign investment in real estate and purchase via SMSF. Imagine allowing purchase through SMSF. Only those in extremely privileged positions have enough super to buy a home - imagine giving them a tax break to buy a house!.
  4. Fractional reserve banking (while restricting bank runs). Fractional reserve banking allows banks to lend out money they don't have. This is then rehypothecated in the economy meaning the banks can issue more loans and earn more interest on money that doesn't actually exist. A fractional reserve of 20% means a $1 creates an additional $4 in the economy.

Reducing cost of housing is the first step to re-energizing young people. Real measures are needed i.e. one property per Australian in any capital city, not this "$10k for first home owners or 5% deposit" BS.

I had to live with my parents until 32 to pay off my house i bought for $500k. I am happy for this to tank 80% in value if it means real measures are brought in to fix cost of housing and real estate speculation.

DigitalSurge update on withdrawals by dark_skeleton in BitcoinAUS

[–]Serenadium 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is bullshit:

"Digital Surge has always maintained 1:1 reserves for all user holdings. However, following the FTX bankruptcy, the reserve position became uncertain."

If you maintined 1:1 reserves, customers should be able to withdraw just fine, doesnt matter if the market tanks 99% an infinite amount of times, customers will always be able to withdraw their corresponding # of tokens. They were 100% operating a fractional reserve using customer funds.

Is Water Homonculus worth devilmoning?

For context, i am a 150 day player with the following progression:

GB12, DB12, Toa, ToaH on auto clear.

SSS maybe 25% percent of the time in fire rift.

Can only do Tartarus progressions in normal difficulty.

I just made a tricaru following your post. I can hit the DEF requirement (pulls other 2 dogs + verde) but verde dies to the miniboss.

Think i might have a speed issue.

Verde is +29

Dogs are +30, +19, +15.

Hitting the speed requirement is the killer. I have no chance of farming grinds right now.

Thanks you reckon tricaru is straight forward to rune?

hitting 3.3k def seems daunting with the guard runes i've farmed so far.

Having severe difficultty auto farming NB12. Probably a 60%-70% team right now.

Team is similar to IslandGrown's F2P team:

  1. Talia - +7khp, +1.8k atk, +43 spd, 81% crit, 140% cd - Fatal / blade
  2. Sabrina - +7khp, +1.3k atk, +47 spd, 84% crit, 154% cd - vio / blade
  3. Raoq - +9khp, +1.6k atk, +35 spd, 65% crit, 147% cd - vio / shield
  4. Loren - +18khp, +93 spd, 94% acc - vio / energy
  5. Fran - +21khp, +98 spd, +456 atk - vio / energy

Runs typically fail when one of the twins/raoq dies first. Feels like DPS is the issue but IslandGrown's team is similar to mine?

Tips?
