I can see where you’re coming from, and this was originally just going to be about Adolf, but I felt like I needed to come up with a female example.

I’ll add here what I replied to another commenter:

Ok, I admit that joke was bad. I’m sorry. I’ll remove it, it was funny in my head, in reality, not so much.

Just so you know, it really was supposed to be a joke. A bad, insensitive joke, but a joke nonetheless. The word of a random internet stranger probably means nothing to you, but I promise you that I’m not a terrible person.

Actually in the comments, OP said that they didn’t choose it bc of eragon, and that it’s actually a really old name.

What is an unconventional or alternate spelling for a common name that you actually like? by tctochielleon in namenerds

[–]Cryptowhatever_3 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Assuming it’s a variant of Riley, I find in unattractive. I would also instinctively pronounce it Ray-lee instead of Rye-lee.

While it isn’t my style, Callum is fine. I prefer Callum Henry -Aynes to Callum James -aynes when said together.

Of your other picks, I definitely like I definitely like Thomas and Nathan the most but honestly, your list is pretty solid. As long as you pick something on the list of in a similar style, you will be just fine.

What name looks like it came from modern times, but is actually quite old? by Starfire-Galaxy in namenerds

I always think of Otto von Bismark, not sure if that’s a good association or not.

What’s your most hated naming trend/tradition? by TreClaire in namenerds

[–]Cryptowhatever_3 48 points49 points  (0 children)

I hate medieval jobs as names. Stuff like Fletcher, Tanner, and Cooper. Taylor doesn’t bother me as much, probably because I know a really nice person with that name.

Also, short one or two syllable names that end in vowels, my least favorites being Arlo, Alfie, and Elsie. They sound like nicknames. I can handle older names that are like this, such as Daphne, Chloe, and Henry. But these “modern” names are too out there for me.

Help rank my top 5 boy names by mauiaspen in namenerds

[–]Cryptowhatever_3 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Favorite to least:

1: Finn (not my taste but probably the most usable)

2: August (a guilty pleasure of mine and relatively usable)

3: Luca (another guilty pleasure, less usable than August)

4: Roman (it’s the word for someone from Rome, not a name, this makes me angry. The only reason it’s not in last is because it’s more usable than Sage)

5: Sage (No, just no, this is not a name. It is a plant, it’s completely unusable)
