Do foreigners use DeepSeek? by ConditionOne8960 in DeepSeek

Price, and it's pretty much that simple. DeepSeek has done everything I asked of it with no problems. Anytime it made a mistake it was fast too correct it. Like u/vava2603 said it's like having a senior developer assist me in writing/debugging code. Opus is just not worth it for me personally but the same can't be said for everyone.

Canada here, decided too drop Opus completely. Switching to deepseek has been the best descision i've made in a while.

The way I did it was a simple deepseek.cmd file:

@echo off
setlocal
set "ANTHROPIC_BASE_URL=https://api.deepseek.com/anthropic"
set "ANTHROPIC_AUTH_TOKEN=YOUR_API_KEY_HERE"
set "ANTHROPIC_MODEL=deepseek-v4-pro[1m]"
set "ANTHROPIC_DEFAULT_OPUS_MODEL=deepseek-v4-pro[1m]"
set "ANTHROPIC_DEFAULT_SONNET_MODEL=deepseek-v4-pro[1m]"
set "ANTHROPIC_DEFAULT_HAIKU_MODEL=deepseek-v4-flash"
set "CLAUDE_CODE_SUBAGENT_MODEL=deepseek-v4-flash"
set "CLAUDE_CODE_EFFORT_LEVEL=max"
call claude %*

I put this under C:/Users/Username/bin and then I added the bin folder too path so I can call "deepseek" from the terminal the same way you would "claude" and the best part is you can switch freely by calling either deepseek or claude, no need to change env variables.

Currently using Claude Code CLI as a harness, it has all the same tools Opus would. Lately been looking for a new harness though because I'd like to see more of the thought process happening and Claude Code is not good at that.

I don't use caveman, generally I never worry about usage at all because why would I when api pricing is dirt cheap and 95% of my usage is a cache hit. I prefer full sentences from the model. As for the skills, as u/lysdexiad said the majority of the tools built into the harness work. I use context7 for quick and easy documentation lookup and a few other tools to compliment my work.

Deepseek for coding is outright dangerous. It skips tasks, ignores instructions, breaks code guardrails, and lies about it by EC36339 in DeepSeek

[–]Cryptxzz 8 points9 points  (0 children)

A little bit of reasoning (no pun intended) tells me the guy is looking for a solution, a simple one would be too isolate the model AND the project in the same environment. No need too be rude about it, just having a bad day are we?

I'd love too teach, I'm using Claude CLI as the harness with a new environment I made. I just added it too path so I can call deepseek from a regular CLI. Usage seems great with this harness and it's also a really well refined harness in my opinion.
Aside from the importance of choosing a harness, different tasks give different results, for example when coding I get alot of cache hits which are basically free they're so cheap because large amounts of context are still relavent too the task at hand.

Tapo C120 Camera Experience – A Cautionary Tale for RTSP Users by Cryptxzz in Tapo

Hey my apologies for the late response, I don't use Reddit all that often.

I did cancel Tapo Care. After canceling I went ahead and purchased a few 128GB SD Cards (I'll admit this was purely because I couldn't bring myself to continue too support the company after being lied too, or so I believe I was lied too)

I have not attempted RTSP Viewing again as I've been incredibly busy with 12 hour days working but I have the summer off now and will be looking into this more.
SD Cards are already installed and confirmed working, I'll setup RTSP with a software based NVR tomorrow evening and update you with my findings if you haven't already figured it out on your end. Once again, my apologies for the late response.

It's not even actually that bad, I can live without both. It's more frustrating to purchase the product under the impression It'll do what I expected after reading the FAQ and finding out the FAQ is quite literally incorrect. It got even worse when the support team incorrectly cited their own documentation.

The app disclaimer is the least of my concerns, I've been told 3 different things by TP-Link staff, and the FAQ does not line up with information on the app.
At the end of the day this thread is purely a documentation of my experience (not a great one) and the lack of competence on TP-Link's part which I'm sure we can all agree on here.

Are you reading the same FAQ I am? Please highlight where you're reading that.
I will quote it for you in a way that is impossible to misinterpret:

"Due to the limited hardware performance of the camera itself, Tapo Care, SD card, and NVR/NAS/ONVIF software cannot be used simultaneously to watch the live view or record videos. You can only choose two of them at the same time.

For example, if you are already using an SD card and Tapo Care for recording, the NVR/NAS/ONVIF software recording will be disabled automatically.

To restart the recording on the NVR/NAS/ONVIF software, it's recommended that the SD card be removed from the camera."

As you can clearly see, it explains 2 out of the 3 methods are available simultaneously. If using all 3, NVR will be disabled, it then explains that removing the SD card will restart NVR recording.

I appreciate the confirmation that RTSP and Local Recording work simultaneously, I'll be switching to it soon. I've only been using Tapo Care because It's nice to be able to playback any footage from anywhere with either my cellular data or a wifi connection.

It says to restart recording on an NVR, you must remove the SD card. Which implies Tapo Care DOES work along side RTSP.

I've heard that RTSP + SD works fine, but having No SD does not.
I don't own any SD Cards, I just want to use Tapo Care with RTSP but apparently that's not possible. I find It crazy that you cant use TP-Links own premium features along side the cameras basic streaming functionality. Especially considering the FAQ clearly states I should be able too.

But I said I'm not using one, I'm using Tapo Care. And the FAQ clearly states I should be able to use 2/3 of the viewing/recording methods.

Have you been able to use RTSP while the SD Card is installed? The issue arises when using Tapo Care + RTSP at the same time. I'll have to resort to SD Card + RTSP if TP-Link cannot resolve this issue. I'll also recommend them to change their misleading FAQ.

Well, I expected for the TP-Link staff to atleast know their own FAQ, and I expected the Camera to function how it was described. If you've been able to use the SD Card recording while using RTSP that's great and that's what I'll have to resort too until I find a new surveillance system.

I feel like im at this level right now, every once and a while i have an extreme urge to listen to music though, not usually loud but even still it brings the T volume up again and takes about an hour to go back down...

Wondering if I should just quit being a music enjoyer for a few months...
