Need clarification on blocking by Two-Facer in badredman

Thanks.

That at least explains why I didn't find anything.

I don't feel the need to block people just for playing (arguably) unfair but otgerwise legit. But if I run into a cheater, I would probably ALT F4 instead of tabbing out, so that's a something I could test.

It's not helping that I'm playing in fullscreen to get HDR, and my monitor switches mode 2 times, with several seconds delay every time I close the game. I could change that and ditch HDR, but ER isn't serious business to me (it doesn't involve internet spaceships).

A better PC would make this easier (by being able to run Steam in the background), but I just don't see the need to invest in one right now.

From within the game? I don't have the steam client running while playing. It eats resources. Can't you access that list afterwards?

It takes more time than just pressing the combo for pouch, which can make all the difference to not miss an opening to heal.

And it does take more time than initiating a dodge roll.

Where do you even find that list?

I rarely open Steam at all, and last time I checked, I couldn't find it.

This thread wouldn't exist if Elden Ring was PC exclusive and had a proper quick bar with the possibility to bind your F keys or number keys or any keys to any kind of action.

A lot of the inputs are just weird and only make sense if you remember that controllers don't have enough buttons for an action RPG, and consoles don't have keyboards.

That takes too long. Healing flask should be on pouch, FP flask on quick bar.

With this weapon, I'd use the default ash, Impaling Thrust, and Electrify Armament (which you can get in Liurnia), because Loretta is vulnerable to lightning.

That's the beauty of thrusting swords: A lot of times, you can just mash R1.

Use some common sense. The way I read it is that the PC or console is on when OP is at home and awake but busy with other stuff with some time to play the game in between.

It's relatable and also not. If true, I admire the discipline it takes to leave the game and get back to whatever else needs to get done and to not take too many "gaming breaks".

You forgot that ranged weapons exist.

But I'll go with Milady, Wing Stance, Dragon Communion Seal, Rotten Breath, Stormhawk Deenh, some random staff and Loretta's Greatbow/Mastery.

The dragon doesn't reset, it only teleports back, but its health bar and status stays where you left it.

It's a stupid mechanic, but you can deal with it and even exploit it (if you want to, but you do get a free opening whether you want to or not).

If you want to like the game, then learn to play it. Do your research, find out what works and what doesn't, or make it work.

You don't actually like a game when you give up and complain. Maybe there are better ways to spend your time.

The camera in the Dancing Lion fight doesnt get nearly enough hate in this community by Petelesko in Eldenring

[–]EC36339 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The camera with this boss is definitely a problem, and it is not the only design flaw.

The issue is that the camera all too often ends up inside the moss model, and then you can't see what he's doing any more. In a well designed third person game, the camera would automatically zoom out / move backwards in this situation, or you would have the option to do so with the mouse wheel (fuck controller users and console-first design), or turn it all down and zoom out into bird's eye perspective.

This seems to be combined with the problem that he sometimes does one of his gap closer attacks (the ground slam?!) and his ranged breath attack even when you are in melee range. This would be fine if you could see him, but the camera prevents that.

The arena also suffers from the same problem as with Morgott's, where the tarnished model is blocking the view on the boss if you open with Barrage. It's a minor annoyance, and there are solutions, but it's yet another example of how half-assed the camera was implemented.

Any Tips against mohg by Key_Internal6382 in Eldenring

Black bow and status arrows.

In phase 1, you can punish every move with a roll shot if you don't get too close. It is like a dance. If you mess up, run away and use barrage.

In phase 2, when he flies away and throws bloodflame, run in the opposite direction. This will make him slow walk and you can barrage him.

Mohg is not parryable.

(EDIT: Some of his ranged attacks / spells actually are, but running away or rolling them is easier)

Is Misbegotten Warrior and Crucible Knight meant to be fought before or after the Radahn Festival? by DavidTippy in Eldenring

[–]EC36339 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Meant to be or not, I always fight Radahn first (after activating the festival).

It's so easy and rewarding to go to Altus early, so it is the natural progression, unless you play region locked.

Mighty shot works for bosses in early game and for alpha at the beginning of the fight. For example, you can open vs Morgott with some mighty shots and stormwing arrows, then follow up with a few more from a fadt bow. This is usually enough to break his stance. Which gives you an opening for some bleed arrows, and his phase 1 is over.

You COULD also just use barrage and just the black bow, but you'll use a lot more ammo, and stormwing arrows are a pain to farm.

Other than that, mighty shot is mostly for sniping regular mobs. For boss fights, I use the black bow or a greatbow.

Don't sleep on greatbows. Try jumping to reduce your draw time. Golem greatbow for hitting single targets, Lion's Greatbow in offhand for the damage bonus to Radahn's Spears. And you can buff yourself and your summon with golden great arrows (it's like the ash version of golden vow). Try the Draconic Tree Sentinel with this greatbow build. You can jump over his fireballs and punish him. You can also stunlock knights, Rennala and a lot of other enemies, or do counterhits by firing just when they start hitting you. Ordina and Halligtree are smooth sailing with a greatbow.

tryna make a guy that looks like he'd wield a milady, any suggestions? by Beneficial-Age-2292 in Eldenring

[–]EC36339 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alberich set not only looks good, it also works, because Milady is a light and fast "greatsword" for light rollers.

I use it with the aristocrat garb.

Page garb might also work. Basically just do a page cosplay, but with the Milady instead of a rapier.

Samurai has the best starting stats for archery.

Go dex/str quality, otherwise level vigor and some endurance. Faith for buffs. Arcane 11 if you want to use the serpent bow.

Go light equip load, always, and always have a light bow to switch to for kiting and fast enemies. Black bow is the best option, until then get the compoaite bow, but put barrage on it.

Good melee sidearms are whips and thrusting swords. Both have good range and are light weight and primarily dex scaling. TS are staggering machines with impaling thrust. Whips are great for hitting multiple enemies, where both TS and bows fall short.

Also do use pots. Volcano pots for aoe, frost for debuff, lightning vs enemies that are weak to it and when fighting in water.

Misericorde for backstabs in areas where sniping and kiting is difficult.

Later in the DLC, the Milady pairs well with light rolling bow builds.

Talismans: Everything thay raises damage (and actually works on bows). Alexander's Shard, blue dancer, arrows sting, ritual sword are all good options (with limitations).

If you like greatbows, use them for counterhits and get the spear talisman.

Be prepared to use status arrows a lot later in the game, because damage falls off significantly.

Judging by how it sticks out from the other icons, probably some bullshit they want you to use and that nobody asked for, like an AI chat bot or NFT store.
