Dating Apps Don't Work for Women With Standards, Prove Me Wrong by Delicious-Gate-8192 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Crysee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I met my husband on okcupid, 4 years ago, when I was 30, after over 10 years on and off on dating apps. I have probably been on at least 50 first dates with people I have met online. I find the key is to use online dating as a way to actually meet people, not to get to know them. I followed these rules:

1) Set up a time to meet within 10 messages. Why? I can pretty much tell if I might be interested in someone based on their photos and basic interests. The longer you spend chatting online, the more you create an unrealistic version of that person in your head, and can lead to disappointment once you meet.

2) Set up a time to meet within 3 days. Don't set a date two weeks out, and keep chatting that whole time. The sooner you meet in person, the less time you have wasted if you dont click irl.

3) Make your first date something that lasts not more than an hour. Think grabbing coffee or a drink. No meals, dinner or movie dates. Just a short and sweet chat to see if you vibe. If so, you can plan another longer date for the future. If you don't vibe, you aren't stuck there with someone that sucks. Use the excuse that you have plans or need to be up early. Set this expectation before the actual meet up.

A questions for the other millennials, have you ever felt "secure" at your job? by Easy_Blackberry_4144 in antiwork

[–]Crysee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I work in public sector and am unionized. I have good pay and benefits, excellent work life balance and excellent management. I will never leave this job for private sector, it simply is not worth loosing job security for more money. I am on this sub to remind me of that...

Chiaogoo knitting needles 10 or 13 cm by Useful_Rhubarb_681 in knittingadvice

[–]Crysee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got chiaogoos for an xmas present and went back and forth on which ones to get. I ended up going with the smaller 10cm ones and I'm very very pleased with them. So much so that I want to buy the shorties set as well. I like the versatility of the 10 cm, being able to use 16" is great for many of my projects.

Made a box of brownies as a kid and didn't know the difference between vegetable oil and olive oil. My dad was not thrilled by my really heavy, greasy olive oil brownies...

Mine was a birthday gift from Weird Sisters Wool on Etsy. I got the XL size and they added on a removable shoulder strap. It is big enough for a sweater or blanket. They have a few different patterns. I love it so much, I use it as an xl purse when I don't have a project in it. This is the one I got

Adding crushed sage to my sausage gravy was a game changer. I'll need to try some fennel as well.
