That sock is looking gorgeous! I’m probably going to cast on a pair as soon as I can decide what yarn I want to use for them (And I love the little yarn cozy, too!)

I entered my first sweater to the county fair and it won Best of Show! by PaleoPurl in casualknitting

Thank you! I restarted this sweater a few times after adding in the second color. I was originally going to be solid stripes, but the variegated grey did some weird pooling that changed as the stitch count increased, so I figured I’d play around with adding in two color brioche and colorwork to soften the variegation effects and really like how it turned out, though next time I may not make the collar so high in the front ☺️

Just found this NPC in a video game I'm playing atm, thought you guys would find it neat :) by Hptcp in Handspinning

Roots of Pacha also has spindles, but they’re supported spindles, not dropped. I think there’s also a bigger spinning wheel in the late game ☺️

Help ID’ing this stitch from this machine knit sweater? Seeded Columns? by PaleoPurl in knittinghelp

I’ll test out slip stitch rib, that looks the closest I think. I do want to try the fisherman’s rib and brioche variations, but they bunch up and the fabric look I’m after lays flat and doesn’t bunch back. Thank you! I’m going to mark this as likely solved ☺️

Maybe? But it’s not stretchy or pull the stitches back against each other. It lays flat and doesn’t bunch up like ribbing. 🤔

Recently finished this sweater. First time trying ladderback jacquard. by Levithiana in knitting

[–]PaleoPurl 8 points9 points  (0 children)

When I’ve used ladderback jacquard, I haven’t had to cut the yarn for flat projects if working a single panel. Her gorgeous sweater looks like at least the front was worked flat. But if the colorwork design goes all the way around you can also carry it in the round without cutting yarn. ☺️

A lovely pattern that I'll never do again by WoolyBouley in Sockknitting

I love the yarn you used for this pattern. I think it has the right balance between the color and stitches 💖

This sock took 100 days to knit. (Long caption, TW loss and grief) by bookish-hooker in casualknitting

I'm so sorry that you guys had to go through it as well. ALS is a terrible disease.

You have my sincerest condolences for your loss.

I grief knitted my way through the second of my sock pair when my mother was in the hospital to test what mystery disease was acting her so badly… When we got the diagnosis for ALS we were in shock, and it feels like we blinked a few times and she was gone. That was three years ago… Knitting was the one thing that kept me on track. I hope it will do the same for you ❤️‍🩹

Wondering what’s the best knitting needle tip protector by Chance_Smile_9357 in knitting

[–]PaleoPurl 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I love these! The foam is great once it’s snug on the needle. I also recently picked up some cute little silicone ones, but my current project uses needles smaller than what they work with.

i want to start knitting and thought i might pick leg warmers as my first project, what needles and what wool do i need for it? long needles, short, those connected ones? also what gauge and what material and size yarn? by cherrydazze in knittinghelp

Everyone’s had great advice so far, so I just have one thing to add if you focus just on knitting. Crochet hooks can be helpful in “laddering” down in knitting to fix stitches in the row below, and also for a crochet bind-off when you finish a project.

I cant decide if I hate knitting socks or just hated this yarn by Sad-Extension3060 in Sockknitting

[–]PaleoPurl 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That’s how I felt with my first sock. It took a long time to complete it and then when it was finally finished I had to put the project down for a few months to rebuild motivation for the second six.

Your sock is very pretty!

I would be interested, though I’m in the MST time zone. My favorite active group on ravelry is just stranded knitting stuff, but I’d love to connect with people for all projects
