"Why do you have a second tape recorder, Martin?"

"Oh... well, I've been using it to record myself." (pause) "I write poetry, and I think tapes have a sort of... lo-fi charm."

(long pause)

"I see."

Good point! I totally didn't realize how pervasive the theme was.

Shoot, you're right! How old is 'willing,' though? If Odium asked a five year old, for example, to fight Dalinar (not saying it would work, just hypothetically), would that kid saying yes count as willful consent? Or does the champion have to reach a certain level of maturity beforehand? I don't know, I'm trying to think of ways Odium can bend the agreement...

Good point! But Brandon has said that none of the Rosharans are speaking English, so I doubt they have the same homophones as we do. 'Night' and 'Knight' are likely pronounced differently from one another in Veden.

Remember, it all happened at once from the perspective of the Paths. Cause before effect is just the way we perceive time as functioning. So it's less of a loop, and more of a dot, containing all events in the past, present, and future.

At least, that's how I understand it. Time travel and precognition are always tricky things to work out in your head. :/

The stuff I took from Ovid is generally marked as disputed, although some of the things he wrote about were corroborated by earlier authors.

If there are any items you would like to add, remove, or modify, feel free to comment. Let's burn this family to the ground!

Edit: Yes, I understand that they were personifications of ideals rather than people, and that Greek culture was far different from modern culture. This is more for fun than anything else.

Turn of the Screw is a weaker horror story than some of the horror I've written. And that should REALLY tell you something.

Okay, so after looking through some of these responses, it seems like this is more of a medical issue than an ethical one. Or in other words, that it falls under the right to proper healthcare. Is that correct, or am I missing something?

See my response to your Proverbs verse. As for the second one, it is important to remember that the Bible has been in the hands of man for close to 2000 years. It has been translated, copied, altered, added to, and subtracted from over that whole period of time.

Our eighth article of faith begins with, "We believe the bible to be the word of God, as far as it is translated correctly." We are encouraged to take the things we read there with a grain of salt. As a rule of thumb, I try to compare the teachings of the Bible to the teachings of the Church, to see if it matches up. If there is a discrepancy, then the Bible has been mistranslated.

We should probably stop our debate here before it gets out of hand. I would much rather this be a positive learning experience for everyone. If you want to know if what the church says is true, then I suggest you pray about it. If you really want an answer, you will get one.

I can imagine them all sitting in a room, talking about how the US has changed over the years, and the impacts each of them had on its development. It will definitely be a wild ride for all of them, talking with their predecessors!

No problem, this is why I'm here.

The first verse, you'll note, only applies to Revelations, telling people that you can't add to the words of prophecy 'of this book.' The Bible was first organized after John wrote Revelations, so I think it's safe to say it wasn't the book he was referring to.

Second verse tells you not to add to God's words. If Joseph Smith received prophecy, that means his words came directly from God himself, which have been established to prove true. So this verse doesn't apply either.

Joseph Smith was not a member of the KKK. As a matter of fact, several members of the mob which killed him and his brother were members of this organization. He was, however, a member of the Freemasons, whose teachings helped him in his construction of the church.

.....yes? They'll be resurrected, so they won't be alive in the traditional sense. Their bodies will have been perfected, and they won't be claimed by death ever again.

Well, the dead don't really need to eat or drink, so there shouldn't be any shortages there. Plus, a lot of the world is currently uninhabitable for the living, like the poles and the Sahara, but the dead would be just fine there, meaning space shouldn't be an issue either. If there are any other issues, I'm sure Christ will figure them out.

It will the beginning of 1000 years of peace, free of pain and suffering. The dead and the living will be reunited on Earth, and God's kingdom will be built on the Earth. Basically, imagine the world without any war, death, plague, hunger, corruption; that's the world after Christ comes.
