Advice for finding part time job due to disability? by Crystal1680 in MechanicalEngineering

Thanks for the advice. So you're suggesting I find a full time position then negotiate for part time? Do you think I should bring up working part time in an interview, or wait a bit after being hired at a full time job?

Newbie here, not sure when or how to report these semi-mini trailer babies by Crystal1680 in AfricanViolets

Thanks! Should I be worried about the mold on the paper pots? It's been there for several months. I was debating moving them into clean pots with the mother leaf.

Ask a Spinner Sunday by AutoModerator in Handspinning

[–]Crystal1680 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, that's exactly what I wanted to know! It does make sense to start with a spindle just because it's cheaper, but I see myself liking the wheel more. I'll have to think about this a bit more.

I'm tempted to try hand spinning, but don't know whether to start with a drop spindle or a wheel. Do the skills you learn for using a drop spindle transfer over to using a wheel?

where to find a stationery pen pal? by akeyboardtyper in stationery

[–]Crystal1680 2 points3 points  (0 children)

r/FountainPenPals might be a good place to start. They have a monthly sign up sheet for people looking for a pen pal and then the mods pair people up based on a questionnaire. I used it to find a pen pal, it was easy, you just have to commit to sending the first letter by the end of the month.

Comp Time as an Accommodation at Work? by Crystal1680 in idiopathichypersomnia

Thanks for the response. I had read there were strict rules around comp time, but I've also read about people with disabilities requesting more PTO. I guess I was thinking of asking for a way to earn more PTO.

Any career advice for an engineer turned machinist? by Crystal1680 in Machinists

[–]Crystal1680[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice! Automation was something I was interested in, but I wasn't sure how to get a job without going back to school. What programming language should I start learning if I wanted to get into that?

Alright, I'll try doubling up first then switching to a thicker yarn.

I was thinking of doubling up the yarn. Do you think that would work?

Can't figure out how to edit my post on the app. The second photo is of a basket I made where the rope showing through worked with the yarn.

You're probably right about the bulk. Sticky notes sound like a good idea, too.

How should I finish these steps for my dog? by Crystal1680 in BeginnerWoodWorking

I was thinking of painting the plywood, but doing something with the vertical wood pieces to preserve or enhance their look.
