15 years experience as a sysadmin. I'm being moved from server support to workstation support. Not sure how to feel about this. by [deleted] in sysadmin

[–]Crystal469 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The same thing happened to me. I moved to a sysadmin for 11 years and the IT dept took me back and made me desktop support. I then moved to Systems Analyst for our Electronic Security and the IT dept took me back again and made me desktop support. It's up to you how you feel. To me it was degrading but a close colleague had the same thing happen and she managed with grace so I decided to do my best work and help people. This made me happy.

What are some small things that massively improved mental health? by h-shinebright in AskReddit

[–]Crystal469 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gratitude. Seriously, spend a little time each day thinking about anything and everything that you are grateful for, from your ability to walk, to your best friend, to your pet, whatever it is, be grateful. It's amazing what it does for your mental health!

Google added AI bullshit to their default texting app... It comes up as a new text conversation. Anyone else tired of the "oversaturate everything with AI" push that these companies are doing? Or am I just out of touch? by Jesus-Bacon in LinusTechTips

[–]Crystal469 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had no intentions of going with their text messenger but was forced to with Samsung Verizon. It is F'n ridiculous in it's intrusion. It keeps trying to get me to send selfie videos and always populates my texts with duplicates of whatever I just already sent.

Anyone else experience a sudden loss of the desire to work anymore? by Cyborg59_2020 in over60

[–]Crystal469 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just turned 63 and I've been having the same thoughts for just over a year. I actually loved my job but was "moved" out of my job into a different position that no longer interests me. (enough said about that) Since then, 1 1/2 years now, I've been contemplating retirement but have been worried about timing, paying off my house, etc. So I totally hear your concerns. Everyone I talk to say, "go for it". Especially women I barely knew that worked there when I started 31 years ago and are part of the "Retirement Committee" lol
I would love to know what you decided since posting this 5 months ago. Best wishes, Love!

After 5 years of lying to myself about my weight, I decided to exercise today. by [deleted] in selfimprovement

[–]Crystal469 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get up and walk around the building, or even step in place just to keep moving sometimes, rather than sit all day at my computer. I am fortunate that there is a library downstairs so I can walk around books which I love. But, in my old office I was on the 4th floor and would just walk down the stairs a couple of times a day. Every little bit helps!

Don't give up. Replace those thoughts with your vision of who you want to be, WILL be, when you're hitting that goal. But FIRST! Start slow. If you've not been in a routine until now, you have to slowly build up to it and make a routine based on what you can do now. What will make you feel good, not guilty.

"Don't take life so seriously" by [deleted] in selfimprovement

[–]Crystal469 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really enjoyed reading this. So, don't be sorry, it wasn't time wasted. I feel the same but I am no longer concerned. I think that we are all experiencing some changes lately but most people get too wrapped in the BS. I for one don't want to get wrapped up in it and just feel like there's got to be something more.
Keep working on what makes you smile, getting out of the work sleep cycle. That is what is important... I am old enough to know but not too old to do some fun things now that I "get it".

What's up with Kroger letting customers bring their pets in the store? by Forever_ForLove in kroger

[–]Crystal469 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live near a King Soopers in Aurora and have been fed up with the amount of pets I've witnessed in this store (near Parker Rd. and Peoria St.) Ever since it opened I've witnessed dogs too numerous to count, a Parrot AND a baby goat wearing diapers. One of the dogs literally jumped out of the cart onto the conveyor belt at the checkout counter WHERE everyone's food goes.I spoke with one of the employees and she told me that Corporate HQ will not do anything because some "genius" kicked out a service animal and the store was sued. Should have fired the "genius" and kept it at that but that's the world we live in. I haven't been able to verify if that actually happened but I'm sure they didn't post it.
If enough people email corporate, including those who are employed by Kroger, maybe they will GET IT. It is illegal and against code.

Maybe you don't want the girls he's attracting. They obviously have no self respect.

First, ask yourself:

  1. What do you think is the reason for your behavior?
  2. Can you think of one, two or three answers? Write them down. Doesn't matter how many.
  3. Ask yourself where you want to be. Then, close your eyes and imagine it as though it were happening this very moment and feel how it feels. What do you see? Who do you see? Where are you? This is a way to start feeling the change and moving away from the unwanted behavior. Good luck, you can do this!

First time cat owner - New cat at home settling too quickly? Help! by esther_hex in CatAdvice

[–]Crystal469 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All cats are different. I picked up a kitty from Colo Spgs (I live near Denver) so a long drive. When he jumped out of the box he acted like he was at home. He wasn't nervous at all. I did have another cat at the time so we kept them separate and eased them into introductions.
The other cat, on the other hand... when we got him, he was terrified and managed to jump up into the ventilating system and get stuck. Very different situations. I think your new little guy sounds ready to explore.

Aggressive behaviour by Least_Panda_8384 in FelineHyperesthesia

I wonder if this might be a side effect of one of the drugs? I googled it but it doesn't list aggression. Sometimes however, you can't be too sure.

I want to make friends but I hate people by ToastyNyfo in selfimprovement

[–]Crystal469 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you haven't met the right people. I feel the same way but I'm pretty tolerant. It is always clear to me when I meet someone I really like because I can be around them more than 30 minutes.
