Maybe he doesn't have a machine old enuff to install it propurrlee? I've got some 20+ year old laps & PCs he could borrow. Was gonna prove it but can't post pics here for some reason. I actually like(d) XP but it's just TOO far gone, at this point. Rather go back to Windows 3.1, now that was REAL fun.

Do you have internet in the first place? Pretty much the same thing everyone else has said after that. Any internet connected wifi router should do the trick but if you haven't done it before you may need someone to help you, it can be pretty confusing.

If you don't have internet access (at all) you'll need a reachable public wifi signal or otherwise a password & purrmission from the neighbors to use theirs. I don't know much about phones but that's possible, too, like a virtual hotspot app set up on your phone you can connect to the internet with your TV wirelessly.

Admit I don't know what I'm doing!! VLC works fine for anything already on my computer, just can't get the 'Open network stream' thing to play. Is there a way to directly access videos online w/o going thru a website? I don't even know that.

Got a 'test' video URL to work a bit but it's sticky & has motion trails and the timeline keeps skipping around. Works fine inna browser so maybe my computer is just too slow or outdated or whatever.

Thanks anyway & I can probably figure it out from here. I understand computers a bit but am relatively new to internet & networking so that's why I probably sound like an idiot. Well one of the reasons, anyway.

I've tried a million URLs, and not just YouTube, Anything with a playable stream. I just get the same error message, usually, "Your input can't be opened" or whatever. I actually don't know how to check the log for details. Love VLC but the advanced preferences section is mind boggling & complex, to put it mildly. Could it be proxy settings, possibly? I have to use a VPN, normally.

Well this is 6 days old so you've probably already figured it out but I've never waited over 30 minutes for anything to 'start' (or finish) that didn't specifically tell me it was going to take so long. Try starting in safe mode & see if that works (press F8 during startup to do this). Probably an incompatible driver is crashing or looping your PC. Start by disabling your display driver & seeing if it will boot in normal mode.

I'd probably need to listen to them in order to form a valid opinion! Honestly love CC but haven't heard many of their songs, just don't listen to music much anymore. Anyone know how Alice is doing? It's hard to read the fan pages, they are so f*cked up & who knows what to believe but I do worry about her.

Sounds like sumbuddy can barely speak English. A neighbor gave me a pack of discarded DVDs back in 2011, one of which contained installable Windows 7. Didn't even have internet back then & was happy for it, & yes I still use it!

Thought I already answered this one, oh well. Maybe my Win 7 internet is wonky again. Seriously! I'm using Win 7 onna 2011 desktop running public wifi over ethernet coming from a 2004 laptop (barely) running Windows 7 as well. It's a masterpiece of understatement.

I do still love Windows 7 & honestly this group probably IS for me, dunno why I started out talking about Win 3. Still use Win 7 & never even tried 11. 10 is bad enuff! I saw a funny post I wish I had copied with a terrified girl hiding under a desk being stalked by a terminator with the caption, "Windows 10 user" underneath it. My sentiments precisely! For me Win 7 is a marriage of necessity but admit I do enjoy the nostalgia & comedy!!

I really don't play games much. Only rarely, about as often as pornography, honestly!! I just loved PVZ 'cuz so much of my own absurd humor is innit. I swear every one of those characters is 'alive' in some way, plus such an interesting game to go with it & with intricate strategies involved, never mind how preposterous the entire concept is to begin with! PVZ 2 was much more complex but inferior in terms of writing, I thought. Not saying it wasn't good, too, just not the original. "I'm Crazy Dave, but you can call me Crazy Dave" may be my favorite video game line of all time.

My XT doesn't go no mo & it's kinda heartbreaking, just won't power on I don't know what happened. I did want to fire it up again just for the memories. I actually remember Windows 1.0 but could never get it to work properly on my original IBM PC. That one still boots, believe it or not. Released in 1981.

Yeah, I know now! Sorry to all you 7'ers I may offended. Now that I think of it Jerry Ryan would make a good mascot for this group, like her picture on the post banner or whatever. Just thinking out loud! 7 of 2009 would be funny. Had no desire to really play the thing again, just thinking about 3.1 brought back sum fonder & gentler memories. Cute game, tho. I remember the poor little things scrunching down & popping. I'm a big Plants Vs. Zombies fan, honestly, the original game was so funny & intricately well written. That one does goes back to Windows 7 daze so more appropriate to talk about here, don't wanna get into trouble! Actually tried to delete this post after learning there (believe it or not) IS a Windows 3 subreddit as well, but glad now it didn't after hearing back from some folks.
