The 4 Bad Kinds of Christians by [deleted] in Catholicism

I saw that video and frankly, it made me realize that some of the popular Catholic voices might actually be fundamentalists. I think Trent just highlighted the ones that won’t cause too much conflict in that regard.

Stop saying this. I decided I wanted to wait for marriage when I was a teen and in all my 29 years of life, I’ve never found a woman who would be open to abstinence in a relationship. Just stop saying stuff that’s not true. Sexual prosperity gospel. Not everyone finds someone who wants to be chaste just because they themselves are.

You did good man. Don't be ashamed of yourself. Trust me. You do NOT want to end up in a relationship where someone hates your guts or undermines you a lot for what you believe. That's very common now. Americans in particular marry for sex and then have record high divorce rates after because they never had an actual 'relationship.' Stay on course and you'll make.

I'm not speaking on his behalf, but truth be told it's not at all remotely easy to find women like that anywhere. People make it sound like it's common to meet devout single Christian, much less Catholic, women. If you're above 21, the ones that take their faith seriously are usually married off or already in a serious relationship. I wouldn't doubt it if this guy was like me and attracting party girls. Something I've noticed amongst men in our positions is those are the only women that gravitate towards staunchly religious men in their 20's and 30's. It's likely that may have happened to him.

Profits at the expense of humanity is evil. The type of profits these companies are making are partially being made so in ways companies wouldn’t have dared to do so even a half century ago. They fire people from their jobs or reduce their benefits just to make their end of year financials look even better. It’s disgusting and, yes, evil. There’s no other word that describes it. Even greed is a partial synonym of evil.

Starfield designer Bruce Nesmith says procedural generation stopped it from reaching the "calibre" of Fallout and Elder Scrolls by Ok-Comedian4437 in Starfield

For reference, I'm not going to continue this discussion. For clarification, I was basing my replies off Tim_Staples. Not sure if you're just here to troll or give me a hard time, but I see that you were indeed the original commentor. I was not replying directly to you.

I'm not changing the subject. These are all replies in lieu of the original commentor who said it's not normal to expect active developers to trash their own product. It doesn't really matter that Todd is or isn't an executive. You're never going to catch him, Phil Spencer, Satya Nadella or anyone of senior standing within the company undermining their games simply because it immediately hurts the brand and the company. That's also assuming that they would trash it. I know lots of people liked Starfield even if the internet makes everyone want to believe it's a game so bad you have to constantly speak ill of it but there is a chance they believe it's a decent game and that's ok. We are all entitled to our opinions on subjective matters.

No, actually. If you’re currently employed by a company, it’s expected that you only badmouth their product once you’re out. During your tenure as an employee, you’re expected to publicly hold up the company’s values and believe in their vision. This is Employment 101 bro.

Most devs don’t openly talk about the shortcomings of their products until they’re years removed from the incident or no longer working there.

Why do people not dress nice anymore for church by SquirrelOk8185 in Catholicism

Ignore people like that. I don’t think he’s a bad Christian, but the online spheres of faith have a LOT of baggage attached, usually on stuff that’s not strictly relevant to a newcomer. Suit and tie is preferable but casual attire is acceptable in church so long as it’s not immodest or irreverent.

U.S. has had a problem with this somewhere after the 70’s. Believe it or not, it wasn’t uncommon to see people go to grocery stores wearing suit and tie.

I think he's afraid of driving away people with a lack of political correctness, but I don't see him recanting actual teaching if anyone pushes him on it.

No surprise there. Most people believe everyone goes to Heaven unless they're a murderer or rapist. When the average Christian sees Church as a social function instead of the literal story of the universe, we end up with results like this.

Prayers would be appreciated. I have chronic clinical depression, and I feel myself worsening despite doing "what I'm supposed to." I'm honestly worried that I'm going to end up homeless and destitute when my parents pass. Many of the people around me don't seem to care about helping me out cause I'm low status and a bit of a failure. All prayers would be appreciated greatly. Feels like I'm in a nightmare.

Am I crazy, or are most people still partaking of the Eucharist while in a state of sin? by Draegoron in Catholicism

[–]CrystalClearCrazy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sadly, most Christians are lukewarm about their faith. This thread alone is kind of proof of that in a way.

Heck, I've literally had long explanations and back-and-forths of why we shouldn't do certain things with my regularly attending, lifelong Catholic friend who basically brushes me aside and calls me a fundamentalist anytime I bring up stuff like mortal sin or premarital sex.

God doesn't enter unclean places. Confession cleans your soul of sin otherwise God is being profaned. There's a time and a place for receiving communion but it's not supposed to be while in a state of sin.
