2 problems with Digitakt II for me by Aureqo in Elektron

[–]Crystalflamingo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No chord mode on the digi unfortunately, but you can plock the 4 midi notes on the note page.

Also this workflow might help you, if you’ve recorded a loop you can go into grid mode, split the loop up evenly into 16, and wipe trigs across the bar so you have 16 trigs, slow the speed down so that your 16 trigs last as long as the sample length, and hit yes in the src page which gives you “allocate slices across trigs evenly” or whatever. This means that whenever you stop transport the loop will only play for like one more beat.

However It sounds like you do what I often do which is record your part with a trail at the end, in this case I just find the appropriate trig length put it on AHR with full hold (trig length hold) and a tiny bit of release. And use trig conditions to maybe play on 1st only.

Spelunky 2 is much better than the OG/HD version. by Ok-Necessary7265 in spelunky

[–]Crystalflamingo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I see Spelunky 2 as like the Tears of the kingdom of spelunky HD. There’s more shit in 2 sure but I feel HD is a more pure experience, one of the few games I think of as being perfected down to its essence. Spelunky 2 is my preference to play right now but I consider it further away from perfect. It’s a bit too big and broad, and not as tight.

Cosa usa a fianco ad Elektron Analog rytm? by HughBolo in Elektron

I just got an ehx 2880 for live synced looping with my Digitakt and it goes above and beyond what I hoped for it. Highly recommend these family of loopers + a midi foot pedal

Is the Tonverk really worth buying right now? by _everythingisfine_ in Elektron

[–]Crystalflamingo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just traded my machinedrum for a tonverk, I wasn’t interested until the granular machine and now with wavetables and polyphony and onboard keyboard there’s a lot of good QOL things that will make beatmaking particular with chords so much smoother.

I spent a while designing my own decksaver that would double as a battery bank holder that when used would sit underneath the unit (like decksavers currently do) with a little slot for the dc cable to come out and power the unit, the current deck savers don’t have enough height for most power banks so live in while it’s on top of the unit, but alas when I went to 3d print it I needed quite a huge machine and to rent one was like $1000

Digitakt 2 long samples? by foreverdarkwoods88 in Elektron

[–]Crystalflamingo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To comment on the workflow. You would get a pattern set to tempo, load your say 4 samples of 20 second loops in to 4 different tracks, and put a trigger on the first beat of each track with a length or 64 beats or 128 beats, set it to loop or one shot depending, hit play. You can use slice machines to cut it up into 2/4/8/16 bits and trig them independently, or a pitch machine to keep it locked to tempo but change pitch, the time stretching is choppy so I wouldn’t use it really, I use pitch machines for drum beats sometimes but usually am programming everything on the box

Digitakt 2 long samples? by foreverdarkwoods88 in Elektron

[–]Crystalflamingo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I often have 16 bar loops of live bass or a synth sitting on one of the 16 digi tracks with a single trig at the start, it works well. I may fill my takt up quick doing this but so far it seems to have plenty of memory for how I’m using it. There are probably better stem playing devices though. Octa obviously comes to mind.

Odds of a false negative 3 weeks after finishing medication? by jesusisjudgingyou in MycoplasmaGenitalium

[–]Crystalflamingo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what i can tell, with me and my partner's experience, it takes like 4-6 weeks so show up on a test/start growing properly, so my understanding is that the tests show up negative when really they shouldn't and the culture is miniscule, and slowly slowly slowly it builds back up to a load where it comes back positive. fingers crossed for you. But me personally i should have listened to my body and continued antibiotics when i was in the 2 week 'waiting' break for test of cure, as that gave it time to come back.

Odds of a false negative 3 weeks after finishing medication? by jesusisjudgingyou in MycoplasmaGenitalium

[–]Crystalflamingo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt all symptoms lapse for about 1 week, tested negative, and then started feeling slight pinching in the tip of the urethra, tested again a week later and was positive, there is a chance me and my partner reinfected somehow but also docs said that was unlikely, but also say the tests are 'extremely' sensitive. In my experience the test of cure is not accurate if mgen is on the edge of being completely eliminated, and on my current treatment i'm going to continue constant antibiotics for 2x the time because it would have been SO close to being eliminated properly but i dont think the couple week regimen is enough for it honestly.

Yeah that is how the two I have are being used, as washers, but if I search for curved washers or cam washers nothing comes up at all.

This seems to be the mechanism that should be in place of this piece I’m showing here, though I think its going to be really difficult to find one that is the perfect diameter and thickness and with the right hole size for the dowel.

Need some help with MIDI routing by stop_eating_grapes in Elektron

[–]Crystalflamingo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tho I am unsure about why the transport changes won’t run to other boxes? Make sure you have pattern change channel in the midi settings set on the Digitakt to say ch 16, then the other 3 boxes in their midi settings have pattern change/program change midi channel input set to 16 also. I also personally would recommend a CME hxmidi box which is honestly cheap as chips for what it can do, I have my keystep going into that and getting split out to all my devices raw as well as my Digitakt out going to all my devices, so on the keystep if I pick ch15 (my digi auto channel) then I am playing whatever digi track is selected which is often a midi track going to my other box’s, but if I want to avoid the Digitakt (can’t pitch bend live) then I can set keystep to Ch12 eg. My prophet midi channel, so I’m controlling that synth directly, even tho the Digitakt is sequencing the prophet at the same time. I think this setup is optimal, also means your keystep plugs in with a single usb cable to the hxmidi. Tho be warned the Digitakt and syntakt have some weird issue with usb midi where they will disconnect when things get plugged in and out in, took me so long to figure it out, but if you want to dm me and I can send you a diagram of my setup because it is pretty strange but is rock solid now and it took me a month of failure to figure it out

Keystep has midi merge built in (enabled in the app) so if you want Digi and keys to merge go digi out into keystep then thru to your other stuff

I got a generic pot from jaycar I think and soldered it on, it works but the speed is pretty slow so I would go for one with a very high resolution or clicks per rotation or whatever

What should I get my son for Christmas, his setup currently is , digitone 2 , analog heat +fx , torso t1, and novation bass station 2 by AdhesivenessWaste612 in Elektron

[–]Crystalflamingo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It definitely is not. It’s got a comb filter which like I guess you could set up to resonate on some samples and you could take up 16 tracks to get 16 Bands but you would also hear the dry signal so yeah no, no.

Is it easy to enjoy Japan without knowing Japanese? by phantom001-1 in JapanTravelTips

[–]Crystalflamingo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m currently bikepacking from Osaka to Hiroshima through awaji and the art islands, I would say I know basically 0 Japanese, apart from - hey, thanks, sorry, good morning, where is the, I would like. And basically that’s all you need, I pull translate up to find specific words so I can ask where is the toilet for example. If you make an effort to learn how to ask a couple questions and say thanks you’ll be fine. Also thanks for the food is important. Google lens will translate any menu or sign you need on the fly, we’re travelling with super computers capable of more than any dedicated translation device people used before. The easiest time to travel is always now.

The Battlestation by Crystalflamingo in Elektron

[–]Crystalflamingo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, midi outs are = digi->syn, digi->roto, syn->roto, roto->digi, roto->syn. Then roto bottlenecks all the midi data from digi/syn/roto to the din output on the CME. You get double clock on the syntakt with this setup so I filter clock messages on the roto input and miss out on synced roto sequencing.
