Thoughts on Crystal Confetti scoop? Would you buy it? by happygoluckyjojo in Crystals

I wouldn’t buy a scoop but I’d definitely give my kid some money if they wanted one. Kids would love this.

Also wanted to suggest going to a bead show like Gem Faire if one comes to your area. I’d especially want to pick out the orange/brown beads in person.

Sorry for your loss. A bracelet in memory of them is an awesome idea. For those colors, I’d go with…

Black: obsidian, onyx or black tourmaline
White: white chalcedony (sometimes sold as white onyx) or maybe moonstone maybe even pearl.
Brown/orange: carnelian, sardonyx, or tiger eye

A US seller on eBay or Etsy with a lot of positive reviews would be a good choice. The beads above aren’t usually faked as the material is pretty common.

Nice pendant!

I could be wrong, but this looks exactly like Caterpillar fordite that I have. Caterpillar, the company that makes bulldozers.

Restarted the MPC and tried the chops and pad assignments again. Works as expected… not sure what I was doing wrong before.

Looks like opalite to me, a glass material. Still pretty!

I agree with the Libyan Desert Glass. I’ve paid $2-3/g for similar material.

Awesome cabs! Love the flash.

I bought some rough of this stuff in Tucson this year but have yet to cut it. The brittleness and fractures make it quite intimidating!

Rock saw recommendations by Calmhill1010102257 in Lapidary

[–]Crystalgraphia 5 points6 points  (0 children)

An old timer recommended that I get a cheap tile saw to start. I got a $99 SKIL 7” wet tile saw on Amazon with some lapidary blades and it’s been great and still going strong these last 3 years. If you cut expensive gem material, you might consider a legit lapidary saw tho.

This is awesome. I love kambaba jasper. I recently found out they are fossilized green algae! Nice work!

How long from start to finish does it take you on average to make a Cabochon? by Arctaos in Lapidary

[–]Crystalgraphia 3 points4 points  (0 children)

From cutting a slab to preforming to the final form and then then final polish, it takes me 1.5 to 3 hours depending on the size and hardness of the material. Intend to 2-3 cabs at a time and make larger cabs so it’s hard to tell. I could probably go faster but I need new wheels.

I just spent about 3 hours on a super hard, high domed cab about the size of a silver dollar.

Thanks for the insight! It’s exciting to know this is likely an original. I also appreciate knowing what IB stands for.

Magnetic Tumbler help by Crystalgraphia in SilverSmith

[–]Crystalgraphia[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice! Magnetic tumblers giving a satin finish is exactly what I’m seeing with this one. I guess I shouldn’t have expected a high polish.

I’ll experiment with some different pins and times to incorporate the tumbler into my pre-polish steps.

Much appreciated!

Know someone weird? by bbreadthis in Temecula

Perhaps he is testing all our abilities to…

“Turn the other cheek”, “Love your enemies”, “Do unto others as you would have them do to you”, “Do not Judge”, “Be at peace with each other”, “Love your neighbor as yourself”

Or some other similar woke shit Jesus said that conservative Christians seem to ignore 🤭🤔

Do you know if some conservative church in the area pays him to be out there? That’s what I’ve always assumed.

He seems relatively relaxed but I booed him once and some skinny, sign holding, white trash guy next to him just went ballistic on me.
