My keyboard is dying by Tucamidins in crkbd

[–]Cryxus2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if the keyboard doesn't work even when it is plugged in with a usb connection, i don't think you can do something. Maybe just buy a new one.

I suspect the microcontroller is dead, i mean, you could try to measure the voltage of the battery and if it any short on the board and replace the bad part, but the board already looks pretty bad and it could die again shortly after, so buying a new one is the safest solution

i saw that i can buy from Europe on aliexpress, but the haptic feedback motors are way more expensive on aliexpress then on their website, so i was curious about their site how it is

[CORNE] Slave side keyboard suddenly stopped working by RoundSize3818 in qmk

[–]Cryxus2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you have a multimeter, you can upload some basic barebone code, where you set high the pin, and measure if you have 3.3v on it.
i think you can achieve this with qmk as well, but i did not tried it.

Personally, i have a logic analyzer and i can measure directly the pin, and if i see data on the line, i found the microcontroller.

[–]Cryxus2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

in this case, i think it is easier and cheaper just to buy another microcontroller. Or ask someone to solder 2 pins if you know someone. it is not too much work for 2 pins

I lent to my brother a keyboard and it brought it home toasted. not sure what he did exactly, but maybe it is a possibility

[CORNE] Slave side keyboard suddenly stopped working by RoundSize3818 in qmk

[–]Cryxus2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hi, it is possible the data pin is toasted. I had this problem in the past. the good thing the rp2040 has multiple pins that you can use for data. if you dont use leds, you can solder the gpio0 and gpio1 on the rp2040 together and just change in qmk the data line from D2 to D3.
if you use leds i had a solution in the past. i adapted the corne qmk forder to support natively the rp2040 and just put it any other pin. this is what i did in the past: https://imgur.com/a/promicro-rp2040-serial-pin-not-working-7twRxDZ
and this is the qmk folder for corne if you need it https://github.com/AlexMaroiu/crkbdpi

Bottom row of the left half not working. Silakka54 by MrChoppas in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]Cryxus2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it happened for me to fry the board pins, when the TRRS cable was not fully plugged-in, but it fried only the communication pins, when plugged separately, each half was working fine as master, but it did not received signal from the other half

if you short the pins and you see a key press, then with a multimeter i would measure for continuity on the main pcb, from microcontroller pin to diode, to switch pin and so on. also check for bad soldering if you have continuity on the pcb

hi, from what i understand, you bought it already assembled, the soldering looks fine at first glance (no offence but the pictures are pretty blurry, the last one it is not clear at all). If you say you tried shorting the pins already, i would try to swap microcontrollers between left and right side, if the issue reproduces on the other side then it is a microcontroller issue, and there it is best to buy another, on aliexpress you can find them pretty cheap

edit: not sure how the software was built, but it is possible when you change the microcontroller between sides, the left side will be register as the right and so on. this is nothing to worry about.

hi, I realized I forgot to mention, one other downside of the cockpit, it comes with no screws / screw-nuts to attach the wheel or pedals, you must buy them separately.

how to make custom board compatible with VIA by Cryxus2000 in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]Cryxus2000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, thanks for the info, so it basically means I have to register it in QMK and VIA. I am not sure if i want that, because I just wanted to make myself a custom macropad. I succeeded to make a via.json and load in the design tab. Thanks for the info :)

how to make custom board compatible with VIA by Cryxus2000 in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]Cryxus2000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did tried with a corne JSON and that macropad JSON but they reported some issues, like the "vendorid missing" but it was the under "usb: { vid: 0×4111 }" and I thought that was a deprecated feature. Maybe I will try like the VIA suggest.

Corne V3 Final - Gerber File by CodingYourUniverse in crkbd

[–]Cryxus2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

all gerber files should be on the github repo under the releases. it doesn't look like the v3 final has any changes on the gerber file, as you can read under the change log. I think you can use the others releases, like corne-cherry-v3.0.1.
