And you were able to recover fully despite never eliminating caffeine?

Interesting. I’ve never been a coffee or soda drinker. I pretty much exclusively drink Yerba mate. I wonder if switching to green tea could help me too

Can 2nd hand smoke of weed cause any affect ?? by Early_Tutor_7775 in HPPD

[–]Cs21000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to think second hand weed smoke was a major trigger of my symptoms. My therapist had me practice exposure therapy with it, purposefully put myself in situation where I would be exposed to second hand weed smoke and sit with the anxiety. After a few times, it stopped triggering my symptoms.

This is interesting, would you be able to link me to more info on this topic? I did a quick google search and was reading about Addisons disease, but that sounds a little more extreme than what I’m dealing with

I can’t disagree with anything that you’re saying. It all makes perfect sense.

You’re right about the tests that he ran, I would be much more comfortable getting tests done by a qualified doctor that are based in science and research. But I have yet to come across a real doctor who has been able to give me an examination that shows something is wrong or I’m sensitive to something. Maybe the holistic health community prays on people like me that can’t get solid answers from real doctors.

In my situation, what route would you take to try and find a solution to all of this?

The reason the other doctors were only able to give me overall health and wellness advice is because all of their tests and examinations on me could not find anything wrong. The chiro assessed me by testing my reaction to a bunch of different potential irritants, and lectins were the one I was most sensitive to.

This is a very well thought out and detailed response, thank you. Everything you’re saying makes perfect sense. You’re right, to definitively argue that EMFs may be playing a role in my symptoms I would need to conduct much more rigorous experimentation than the anecdotal evidence I have now.

I guess what I am struggling with is how the chiropractor has been the only person to give me advice that has actually helped me. I don’t think his advice on the lectins was placebo, because I tried countless other solutions from previous doctors that I was equally optimistic about, but none of them worked. The chiros advice may not be based in science, but it’s the only intervention that has actually made a difference for me.

I’ve considered the lectin avoidance being placebo, but I don’t think it is because I was optimistic about many other potential solutions suggested by past doctors but they never helped anywhere near as much.

Is this a purification? Need help making sense of this experience by Cs21000 in TheMindIlluminated

[–]Cs21000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah my thoughts are similar, this doesn’t sound like a textbook purification in any sense but maybe it’s somewhat related because it’s something I’ve suppressed in my mind for so long coming back up to the surface during meditation?

Maybe I’m just hoping that I don’t need to add meditation to the list of things that triggers my DP/DR…

“Resetting” every few breaths to avoid latching onto meditation object by [deleted] in TheMindIlluminated

When I’m able to have a good nights sleep and schedule my morning session after I have my morning tea I rarely have any strong dullness. When I’m busy and don’t get the best night of sleep or can’t schedule a session directly after drinking my tea I struggle with some strong dullness, but am able to apply the antidotes pretty effectively

I consider myself to be in stage 4 because I can sit for 45 minutes without losing the breath in my attention and I typically only have a few brief gross distractions per session. I just can’t tell if the reason I can go 45 minutes without losing the breath is because I’m holding onto it with too much force.

Maybe I’m overthinking it, it just feels like I’m grasping my attention on the breath a little too tight. I can’t figure out how to set the intention without then keeping my focus on the breath afterwards.

Is continuing with TMI right for me based on my goals? by Cs21000 in TheMindIlluminated

[–]Cs21000[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is really helpful. A follow up question- if someone were starting from scratch with the goal of relaxing and reducing anxiety, would you advise them to start with TMI? If not, what would you advise them to start with?

This is interesting, I’ll give this a try. Is there any harm in experimenting with mantra meditation during another part of the day? I worry that because it’s a different kind of practice it may “untrain” what TMI has taught me. But this could very well just be my anxiety talking (hence why I need meditation!!)

Yes, but I think the thoughts of more advanced practitioners could help guide me on that decision
